As many may know, I do seem to suffer from irritation thought to be from shave soap ingredients, three in particular.
Well a Dermatologist has confirmed this theory plus more ! Not just the ingredients in one particular soap BUT the fact
that I use a different soap every day... Facepalm  I should and maybe some of you should use just ONE soap ALL THE TIME... A47
I know. ONE soap. Not one maker, ONE soap... Sbathroom_grooming_shaving_100-100 Well....I do only shave once a day....so, one soap...Right?
No, I've got to choose ONE, use for a month, see how it works.
You know where this is going, right? I'll have to get rid of E-V-E-R-T-H-I-N-G left  Shok
Soooo, this is not just about me. If you are noticing an increased facial irritation or rash, may seem to occur once
or twice a year or all the time, or when you use a "New" shave soap This might be the problem. Some bodies
just don't adjust well to constant changes in soaps , shampoos.

What works for one person might very well be less beneficial to another. As a Doctor of Dermatology (specializing in Mohs surgery) I've found using different products has benefits.

Just out of curiosity, what are the symptoms of your irritation and what are the ingredients causing the irritation? Did you undergo a series of Patch Testing to determine if you are suffering from allergic contact dermatitis or atopic dermatitis?

Yes, we did patch testing, I have reactions to Linalool, Limonene, Sweet almond oil. That's why I said some may have an issue like me.

Aw, that’s a shame! Sounds like your destined for shaves using fragrance free shaving products sans Sweet Almond Oil. Linalool is found in over 200 essential oils and uncountable fragrance oils. Limonene is also very common in fragrances, especially any that have even a hint of citrus.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation.  Fortunately, there are excellent unscented shaving soaps available.  I wonder if you could switch among different unscented soaps without any issues.

Yes, constantly switching, every day a different soap makes it rougher on my face. I'm going to pick one and use for 30 days and see
how that works. The problem IS a soap may list "all natural ingredients", then say FRAGRANCE, and there hides the irritants. I know I
have some that will work for me...It's just finding the ones I can use and want to use. I've got sooooo many.

My deepest sympathies... to me, the daily choice of "what soap do I want" is one of the things that I look forward to.

But, not all is gloom and doom - there are some truly excellent unscented soaps out there, both artisan and non-artisan.

My three unscented soaps - Mike's, Soapy Science and AoS tallow - are all excellent.  I'm sure you can get many good suggestions from the members if you have to go with just one unscented soap.

Mystic waters imo has the best performing , easiest on the skin qualities in the unscented soap they offer. I used that puck exclusively until finished and could honestly say I seen a difference.

Thanks Charlie.... Thumbsup Ricardo I have some Soapy Science unscented. I think I can use my Nancy Boy too. I just have to stick with one and see how
it goes. I think many makers just don't bother to list or even know that some of these things are irritants to some people. Heck, I used can Goo for years with no
problem. I know I can live with a couple of soaps out there..... Cheers

I wonder if Wholly Kaw bare naked is an option? contains lanolin, but the other ingredients look pretty clean - and it’s a great soap base.

Well, I've been checking ingredients on my soaps, got seven that are "clean". All of my SV products are "dirty"
Now, I just use each for a couple of weeks and see. It's not just soaps, aftershaves, colognes, shampoo too.. Angry

Thanks to DEDestroyer have switched to using unscented soaps exclusively. One of best moves ever from my perspective of extremely sensitive skin and also soap hoarding.

Now rotate through Grooming Dept bases on a seasonal basis: winter - mallard, spring and fall - asinus and summer - lusso (throwing in an odd janus or angus). Also have retained a Wholly Kaw Bare Naked Donkey Milk Tallow. These have proved best for me

imho, ymmv, XPEC unscented is my go to for unscented. Allergies are quite tricky. The foods we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink, our soaps, deodorants, laundry detergents, dry cleaning, the perfumes our sig others wear all have influences on our health. Then again I could be as wrong as rain and it may be genetic in which case throw all caution to the wind and keep on using what you like.

Xpec quite good. Was one of my top 2 before US soapmakers such as Wholly Kaw and Grooming Dept significantly raised the standards and at lower price. But nonetheless quite good especially for slickness
