Gentlemen,

There have been mentions of D. R. Harris hard soaps being reformulated in 2017 (@Askforedge), and Phil’s announcement of good-lathering Cyril Salter hard soaps make want to ask the question ....

Has anyone tried Floris hard soaps recently? They have a spotty reputation as reported here and elsewhere, but if others are reformulationg to better lathering hard soaps, maybe Floris is not far behind? Anyone have any information on the current quality of the Floris hard soaps?

Thanks, Steve

I enjoy Floris vintage pucks, but the modern formulation is crap, IMO.

I would agree.  For me the best are the old tallow versions, followed by those with potassium palmate first, with the worst being the newer ones with sodium palmate first.

I emailed them last Oct, the latest formulation is as follow:-

No.89 Shaving Soap

INGREDIENTS:
Potassium Stearate, Sodium Stearate, Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Potassium Palm Kernelate, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Parfum (Fragrance), Coconut Acid, Potassium Cocoate, Potassium Palmate, Sodium Cocoate, Sodium Palmate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Pentasodium Pentetate, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour, Limonene, Linalool, Geraniol, Coumarin, Citronellol, CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide).

Ingredients seemed pretty decent to me.
