Gentlemen,

A few summers ago I did some stage work in Los Angeles. I managed to take a trip to the Old Town Shaving Company (now closed) in Pasadena. The place had a huge selection of Rooney, Morris and Forndran, Wiborg, among other brushes. The Rooney pictured was in the collection. I don't know the knot size, but that baby was huge. Imagine lathering with it. OY!

Ed,
In person, the brush was even more impressive. I had never seen anything like it. Imagine lathering with it. What an experience it would be.

LOL What a beast! That reminds me of a vintage Plisson plexi that I bought years ago, just by pictures. When it arrived, it was a bit smaller than that, but not by much. I thought "What in the hell am I going to do with this?!?!"

The biggest brush I have owned was a 30mm Thater two-band. It was a joy to lather with. This brush is much larger, maybe about a 50mm knot, and I'll always wonder about the experience of lathering with it.

The question is, did Rooney make a soap bowl big enough, or was this expected to be a "face" or "big palm" shaver.  Tongue

One does not lather with that brush. Rather, the brush is soaped up. Then placed on the counter. on its base, then you rub your face into the brush.
