I got a bunch of Gillette 7 O'clock black (Super Platinum) blades made in India.  At first I thought they were great but every now and then I put a new blade in and I feel rough spots in it like it has a nick in the blade or something.

I'm not sure if it's just me or if the blade quality varies from blade to blade. So I'd like to know what you gents think of this blade. Do you find this blade to be smooth or otherwise?

I have used the 7 o'clock blacks off and on with consistently good results -- but no better than other blades that are less expensive. Why pay up if performance is no better -- for me. YMMV of course.

I find the performance good but not always smooth.  For me the 7 O'clock yellows are much smoother.

I just gifted some Brazilian Super Platinums to a friend that has over 100 shaves on a Gillette Black. It's interesting to hear how peoples results differ with the various blades. I haven't tried a Yellow in so long, I can't remember how it did for me. Whenever I go to Try A Blade, I'm stunned by the selection. Lately I'm trying to see how many quality shaves a blade can provide, it's a fun challenge.

I never heard of "Brazilian Super Platinum's". But anyway, back on topic, I saw in another thread where a guy got over 100 shaves on the Gillette Black. I'm trying to find out if guys find them smooth or not.

I have used the blacks, greens, and yellows.  For me, the yellows are the best.

I agree with you. I think the yellows are the best blade there is after the Gillette Silver Blue but the GSB has so much of that shipping wax on it that I will never buy them again.

+1...I really like the GSBs and yellows...my top two DE blades!

The Oneblade feather FHS-10 blades are the worst for glue! Uggghhhh! Nice though!

I came across the 7oclock blacks recently and picked up a pack of 5.

My first thought when I unwrapped one to use was that they feel and appear to be somewhat thinner than the other
blades Ive handled....almost verging on flimsy.

The shave wasn't anything special, but at least I didnt cut myself.....I wonder if being so thin affects the way these blades are clamped in a razor.

I found 7 o’clock blacks to perform inconsistently as well. However, Israeli persona reds felt thinner to me (yet provided a significantly better shave).

I have had the same experience.

The 7oclock greens are very reliable for me....sharp, smooth and last a few shaves at least.

But last week I tried Nacets and was blown away....a whole new level. Instant 100 blade cop.

I wrote about them in post #9

TLDR version: thumbs down

I've had a similar experience.  A few years ago I had a tuck that I really enjoyed, so I bought 100 of them.  The longer I used them the more I liked the Astra SP or the PermaSharp Super in comparison.  I actually just got a 100 Personna Reds for Christmas that I've been using fairly consistently, and those feel pretty similar to the Blacks to me.

I have recently started giving the blacks a try.  Three shaves in, shaves are okay but have gotten a few nicks with my GC .84mm plate.  I have a lot of shaves on that setup and usually have no nicks.  I need to continue to shave a few more times and also want to throw a blade in a few more razors to reach a final opinion.

Maybe try them in a razor that has better blade support like a Game Changer, Karve or Timeless.
