Now, my memory of this may be off, I've been a strictly vintage user for years, but I remember a Gillette  7 O'clock Super Platinum in a dark blue box that was pretty good. I bought some on Amazon once that were pictured in that dark blue box but what came was in a black box. I figured it was just a cosmetic change since it said the right thing on the box but boy was I wrong.  They were terrible.

The 7'o clock super platinums in the dark blue box are the ones made in Russia if I'm not wrong, and regularly get good reviews, while the ones in the black box are made in India.

Agree with the above. Of all modern blades, I find the 7O’Clock Super Platinums in the dark blue pack the best. Good luck finding them, though. I have a stash. They are sometimes advertised as looking blue, but they are not. They are black. The black pack ones are inferior. I don’t like the green or yellow, either.

If you mean these blades, they have been out of production for a number of years.  The 7 O'Clock "Yellow" Sharp Edge, and the and 7 O'Clock "Green" Super Stainless, are still available.

Yes Sir, these were the ones I was referring to. Would you say the yellow ones and green ones (Russian made 'super stainless') are comparable to these dark blue ones? I've tried the Indian made green 'permasharp stainless' ones and had found them sharp but not the smoothest if I recall correctly.

Once again, let me begin with the caveat that blades are the most ymmv part of our thing but I found when I was using modern blades the Yellows to be my favorite Gillette along with the  Blue 7 O'Clocks & Silver Blues. The Russian Greens were ok, the Indian Green and Black unusable.

I recall years ago there was regular discussion in the forums about which of the Gillette 7 O'Clock blades were better.  As expected, opinions were all over the place.   Many feel that the 7 O'Clock "Yellow" Sharp Edge are the sharpest of the 7 O'Clock blades.  The "Blue" had a lot of positive feedback, and there was disappointment when they were discontinued.  I suggest you try the all the ones available now and decide which work best for you.
