Athens, a city that combines the old with the new.

I hope you enjoy the photos of my hometown.

Beautiful photos, Nikos. I don't recognize the object in the second photo. I do recognize the others.

Dave, thank you!

You see a train that crosses the Ancient Agora of Athens. The ancient building is not Parthenon but the Temple of Hephaestus in the Ancient Agora.

edit: you probably mean a photo of another ancient building that I deleted in order to upload another one with a better resolution.

Thanks for the information, Nikos. I've always been interested in things, ancient/historic. Must admit I never did manage to keep the different styles of Grecian columns straight, but still do appreciate their beauty.

Changed the title a bit, it's not just a night walk anymore. I'm adding a few more photos to enjoy the beauty of Athens.

This is the Odeon of Herodus Atticus. The following concert took place in last September.

Nikos, if you keep posting photos like this you'll put the tourism department out of business! Or at least force them to take better photos.

Thank you very much for the kind words, Dave!

As a matter of fact, I read a research the other day which indicates that Americans are among the top visitors in Athens.

Americans and Asians, Chinese mostly, prefer the cultural tourism.

Richard, thanks a lot. I consider myself lucky to have grown up in Athens.

I enjoy walking in my city with my family or friends.

Like the photos - keep them coming.

Really interested in the "outdoor concert" pictures.  Must be a special feeling for the musicians.

Wonderful photos.  I love history and Europe is full of rich history.  If only those historical sites could talk.  What a story they could tell.

It was an amazing experience for all. It was one of the many events that took place from June to October I think, during the Athens & Epidaurus Festival.

Since you asked for some more photos, here they are.

Inside the Acropolis Museum.

And a couple of outdoor photos of Thission neighborhood on a rainy day, next to Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum.

We spent five days in Athens a few years ago and enjoyed every minute. We plan to return as we only scratched the surface of what the city has to offer.
