First off I would like to thank Mike Perry for sending me his original Tradere OC for testing.

I just received the original Tradere today so I did only one pass using a Feather blade and Mike's Natural shave soap. I know that Richard tamed down the Tradere 2nd Gen somewhat but comparing both razors not by a whole lot. That doesn't mean both razors are extremely aggressive. The original Tradere is a little heavier and the handle slightly longer and the head just a little bit different from the 2nd Gen model. The original is a hair more aggressive then the 2nd Gen but not enough for me to put the razor down and give up.
I will continue for the next couple of days using the original and keep a mental note if there are any real changes in performance. I am not expecting any and say anybody who has the original you got a good deal because it was cheaper and came in a beautiful plastic case. For anyone wanting to try the 2nd Gen by all means go for it because I really love that razor.
Conclusion (so far) a stand off

Hi Jerry

No thanks necessary, it was my pleasure to send the razor to yourself so you could carryout a comparison between the two generations...

Like others I look forward to seeing how they stack up against each other.

Take care, Mike

Day Two

Setup
Tradere OC Big Brother
Feather
Proraso Eucalyptus & Menthol SC
Vie-Long Butterscoth Beehive Horsehair

Just an outstanding shave using only two passes. Very efficient cutting action from a heavy razor which I think makes this razor even better. As I stated yesterday the big brother is slightly more aggressive then little brother. Anybody who has this razor would be foolish to sell it. Tonight I am doing another pass as I am leaving very early Sunday morning on a road trip and will return mid Sunday afternoon. I have already switched blades to a Personna Hospital stainless just to judge performance.

Another shave this evening for Sunday as I am going on a very early trip tomorrow.

Loaded the Tradere OC big brother with a Personna Hospital stainless blade. A wonderful smooth and close shave with no after affects (irritation). This razor like its little brother has perfect balance and even blade alignment. I am very impressed with the original. Next shave Monday morning. Stay tuned.

I love the handle on this razor! Classic and traditional yet modern too and the flared tip is beautiful.

Cool

One thing I must add these razors are not for beginners because of their weight. If you are coming from cartridges you will be shocked by their weight.

My 1st gen Tradere is fantastic, it is on the aggressive side, but as long as it's used correctly you get a great, irritation free shave from it. I'd be curious to hear how the 2nd generation OC and the SB match up to each other.

Someone has already made a thread about the new Tradere SB. It got a very good review.

I made that thread! I'm curious to know how it performs side by side to the second generation OC.

I would like to know as well but are not planning on purchasing the SB at this time. But it is very tempting to say the least.
