For the past 8 years, since I discovered B&B and traditional wet shaving, I have not used any canned goop shaving cream. So the other day I was wondering what it would be like to use it again. I figured at only $1.47 a can I would give it a try.

So I got some Barbasol Aloe. I noticed immediately after applying it to my face that it did not even feel like shaving soap at all. I would have to describe it as plastic foam. That's what it felt like. I did not enjoy the shave at all.
I will probably end up tossing it in the trash. I don't how anyone can go back to using that stuff after using a quality soap like we talk about around here. Even common soaps like Van Der Hagen or Arko just blows this canned goop away.

Hahaha, i asked that exact same question to myself this week. Have not used these kind of product for near 20 years and was wondering what it would feel like. I won't buy a can but i might just ask someone to bring me one, soemone i'm about to convert to wet shaving, just for one shave to feel what it's like.

I haven't used any canned foam or gel for some time. But I know that I could enjoy a shave with them. Result is what matters to me, not the journey per se.

For me using a quality soap with a nice brush is half the joy of shaving. I could never go back to the canned plastic foam again.

Some people use canned Barbasol to prevent their mirrors from fogging up. Not sure if the aloe version works too.

I enjoy the journey as much as the destination - but particularly building a face-lather. Even if canned foam/gel worked as well, I’d likely forego it.

I don't get the connection. How does it prevent the mirror from fogging up?

I can’t explaim scientifically, but I’d assume in the same manner smearing soap and polishing it off stops or at least minimizes fogging.

Let me get straight. You spread shaving cream on your mirror and wipe it off. Is that what you are saying?

I use canned foam when I travel on Monday mornings. I have to get up a 3:30, so I use it to save time. It’s definitely not as good, but sometimes you need a fast shave.

Yes it works.   You can also get anti fog products used for motorcycle helmets visors, and for car .

After one use of a inexpensive shave soap I was hooked!

Many of my friends are now can-less.

I understand completely. A gel is just slightly better but is still substandard.
