I have found them to be pretty much as I remembered, very sharp and efficient but slightly harsh, somewhat less smooth than Personna 74 Tungstens or Wilkinson Light Brigades.  They glided well without drag, but they left me with some skin burn.  Their longevity not as great: the blade lasts about 18 shaves, whereas the P74s and LBs last me for 24.

I find the same, although I wouldn't use the word harsh to describe them, for me. Less smooth surely but still very comfortable.  No skin burn. They are in my grouping of second favorite blades, first group being the two you mentioned.

Gents,

I just acquired a few of these and will report back...I wonder if one light drag through a cork might fix that hint of initial harshness. I will try that as well, but it may be awhile before I am able to give it a whirl.

I have to kill my first Personna 74 Medical Prep, then a Light Brigade, and then a London Bridge!

Ive never tried the vintage ones, but I wonder how they compare to the Brazilian made Platinum-Plus? The Brazilian Platinum-Plus is the only blade I use now. To me it feels sharper and cuts better than a Feather and is as smooth as not having a blade in the razor at all.

I get 1 shave per DE and 2 shaves per Feather pro AC. that's not even 24 passes!

cheated by my own genes.

However many shaves you get with modern blades you'll get many more with vintage ones.
For reasons I won't go into at the moment.

I tried one of these for the first time today using i coloniali mango shave soap, and a 1946-47 rhodium Gillette Aristocrat.  I find this soap and razor to be truly outstanding!

The initial shave with this blade was simply fantastic!  The blade was extremely sharp, and very very smooth.  I think I would describe it as being very close to the Personna 74s and the Wilkinson Light Brigade Blade’s!

I have used this type of vintage blade for five shaves now, it has shown no sign of slowing down, and I really really think it’s quite an outstanding bit of kit...extremely sharp and smooth!

I have used it in a Wilkinson Sticky razor, and a Gillette 1946-47 Aristocrat. The soaps I have been using are SS Coconut Lime Goat Milk edition and the venerable I Coloniali Mango.
