More than just from the wild. From the WILD wild! Let me explain.

The guy over the road knows I use and collect shaving gear (he now wet shaves, too, ahem). So he says to me, "I found a shaving brush in some junk. My friend's grandfather's stuff. In a box of junk. I think it's junk, but I grabbed it before it went to the tip. Probably nothing. Want a look?" "Oh yes, sure!"

What is it? A Nimmer Mill Somerset Simpson Keyhole 2 in Best! WOW! I don't have a keyhole. Always eluded me. But I am honest with him and tell him all about it, so he asks if I'd like it. Of course I do, but I swap in for a mint Made Rite 54 with a gorgeous amber handle, and a very similar loft, still in the box. He's happy. I'm ecstatic.

The lathing is very interesting, and there was a label still on the bottom but he threw it, oh well. You can see the lightness where it was. I am thinking early 60s?

Enjoy the pictures!

your neighbor gives you a magnificent brush, and being a gentleman you give him one in return.

my neighbor gives me a headache, and being a gentleman...

...and being a gentleman, you explain that reciprocity is only ever fruitful if the intention is good?

Yes, great to look at but rather on the floppy side. Good as a bowl lathering brush.

I've got just one very old Simpsons, gone to natural butterscotch as well.  Gary SImpson identified it for me as from somewhere around that era .. mine was re-knotted due to the floppy old bristles
