While it is hard to pin me down on my absolute favorite aftershave, Alt Innsbruck is on a very short list. The highly mentholated miracle juice makes my face feel great after a shave. Like the Floid, it can turn a near BBS into a full blown BBS shave. The distinct tobacco flower scent (not to be confused with Tabac) stays with me for most of the day without being overpowering. I love the stuff!

I remember when Phil first stocked it. German tobacco scents were ( and are) impossible to find rarities that sold for $50 on EBAY. Phil had a few sample vials for a few bucks and kindly sent me one gratis. The initial menthol austrian avalanche gives way to a delightfully simple Virginia tobacco scent.
It is properly a splash/AS but the drydown lingers long and close.A sample vial in the pocket applied late afternoon makes it a cologne.
I've had three remarkable encounters with scent. First was a french lady in a Citroen 2cv 'tin snail' who recognised my Guerlain Imperiale. an elderly english lady thought me her late R.N. husband in a brit import shop when I wore TOBS # 74. And finally this Marlene Dietrich lookalike broke her teutonic reserve to compliment me, ask my source and tell her husband it was what she had been trying to describe.
Pour it carefully. There is no plastic insert. Do not bother seeking the german versions. They are all far to busy with other stuff, impossible to replace and overpriced. Buy a edelwiesse mountain patch and sew it your toiletry case.

I really enjoy Alt Innsbruck as well.
I don't know that you would want to use it in the winter, it's got a nice menthol kick.

I have grown to love Alt Innsbruck. I wasn't planning on buying it, but when I found it on sale, I couldn't resist. Based on the ingredients, I am quite surprised by the effect it has on my face post shave. Like Phil said, it can turn a near BBS shave into BBS. How is this possible? I don't know, but that's what I get with it.
I must admit, I did not care for the scent at first. It smelled a little too much like a baby lotion or shampoo. I almost considered selling it after the first use. But I kept using it because of the way it makes my face feel after shaving. The scent grew on me, and now I love it.
When the weather is dry, I usually apply a thin layer if Truefitt & Hill Ultimate Comfort balm over Alt Innsbruck. The balm does not affect the scent, and it leaves my skin feeling perfect.
