Hi folks.  I saw a similar post on another shave blog and thought it to be of interest.  Do you have your first shaving brush? I am lucky enough to have the first brush that I ever owned.  Given to me by my father when I was 15 years old over 55 years ago.  An Ever-Ready #750. I discovered that I still had it while unpacking my belongings after the last move to my present abode here in North Carolina.  It was covered in soap scum and the knot was totally destroyed.  I restored the brush and installed a 21mm Premium Silvertip Badger knot from TGN.

Nope. My very first was a Van Der Hagen Boar from a kit and it was God awful! I used it every day for a month and it broke in absolutely zero.

Luckily it is looong gone! Lol

The first brush I ever had was one with a wood handle and it was not a really good one, so after 16-17 years of use the handle was severly cracked and the knot had started to shed quite a bit. So I had to replace it. It was about 20 years ago and I was like 16 or so, I don't even remember what brand it was!

I don't.  My first brush, an old New Forest badger, immediately started shedding hair horribly, so it was tossed out.

In a way, my first was an Ever Ready 300 my dad owned with a thinking pure badger knot. I ended up replacing the knot and will forever keep the brush. Seen here on the left.[Image: 543731295eb1c13c8ca30d6a4717a4b9.jpg]

Bill and Anthony--such wonderful brushes from your fathers. I purchased an inexpensive brush in a pharmacy in 1962, along with my first mug of Old Spice soap and a Gillette Slim, all for under $5. I still have the Slim, but I don't have a clue as to what happened to that brush. I'd give anything to have my grandfather's and father's shaving equipment as I loved to watch the shave as a young boy.

My first brush was a Wilkinson boar . It wore out after a couple years and I tossed it .now that I am all in to this hobby. My son will have a great first brush!
