Has anyone else experienced this with the Myrsol Don Carlos soap?
BTW, these granules do not dissolve.

I don't have that particular soap, but I've experienced it a couple of times with other soaps. I have no idea what it is. With those soaps, I just kept using them without problem.

It happened to me once before with a Wickham's soap. More irritating than anything else.

Ah yes.
This happened with a few of my Wickham soaps when I had them.

May I ask if you just used the soap and ignored the pebbles? I happened to have gotten rid of the Wickham's (binned it to be exact)

I binned mine as well, and called it a day.

Yes....second worst ….No, worst soap I ever used....I threw it away after three tries with it.
See my review at BullGoose , I think that's where it is, or maybe Fendrihan. Anyway, not good.

Stearic spots most likely. Also agree with the chaps above, worst soap I ever used... Unfit for purpose.

The late Senior Don Miguel once said in an interview his shaving routine was 1 daily pass with a Wilkinson Classic razor using his Emulsion as a shaving cream... So having never used shaving soap it's no great surprise he had no clue what the required properties are.

Definitely a scathing review. I am not ready to give up on the company. I emailed them. We'll see what their response is. Honestly, the soap is not bad. It's the texture that's unappealing. Was your soap granulated too?

20 Mule Team...I know what that is.  Biggrin I compared shaving with this Myrsol to shaving with Lava.  24
I know that scents are highly subjective, but it's difficult to believe we're talking about the same scent. Don Carlos 1972? Did you really hate the scent so?

Yes, Lava...That's a good fit. Honestly it was a while ago, scent is subjective....Performance bad, that's enough. Mine was the 1919 version, still lousy, no matter the year.

Big difference. The Don Miguel 1919 is a Jasmine. My wife hates that one too. The Don Carlos is a good scent.

Not ready to give up on this soap, so I decided to attempt to sieve out the granules. Using a fairly fine strainer, I took about a tablespoon at a time of the soap and pressed it through with my fingers. I then scraped the sieved soap off of the bottom of the strainer with a butter knife. I got about 90%+ out of the soap.

After

You will notice that the soap was significantly softer afterwards. Shaved with it today and the results were 1000% more satisfying.

That's interesting Primo.  I wouldn't have thought of using a strainer.  I have used a microplane to grate hard soap into a container with great results.

Hi Shawn,
I am a "box grater" guy.  Wink
Drastic issues require drastic measures. Hence the sieve. Worked.  Biggrin
