I have a handful that I like. Nacets, Gillette Silver Blues, Israelli Personnas (Reds), Astra SP, Feather, Gillete 7 O'Clock Black, Crystals. Since I have a large stash of Nacets and GSB's I will probably be using just those two soon. Some of the others are down to one or two blades.

Voskhods used to be my only blade.  But I've since moved on to Gillette Silver Blues.  I find them to be smoother and hold their edge a couple shaves longer.  My son uses the Voskhods exclusively.

Surprised there aren't more exclusive Polsilver users and Permasharp users (I haven't tried the latter, but know there are many avid fans).

I have other blades (Kai, Feather, Astra), but more and more I find that I'm using GSB's.  For me, they fit the bill for both smoothness and sharpness.

Lab Blues about 95% of the time, Feathers 4% of the time, random experimentation 1% of the time

Lots of familiar names, but with DE blades I'm down to a couple.  Feathers would be the ones I buy 200 packs of .. I've used Polsilvers with good results, as well as Sharks.  I have a few packs of Old Schick Plus Platinums that are in the hoarding drawer.  So to the OP, I am mostly down to Feather DE

I used to switch blades for a change of pace, but now my beard is so hard to cut that I only use Feather.  The beard on my upper lip will cause a new Feather to pull.  Sad but true.

I hear that. I might have to grow a mustache. The chin is getting tough, too. I put a Personna Red in for a change of pace and haven't gotten a good shave all week.

AAAAAHH!! Back to GSB today and it was like heaven'

Tried lots of different blades but in the end I have settled with Gillette Nacet blades. But then I am a one razor, one brush, one blade type of person. When I find something that works, I stick with it. That is until I convince myself that I can improve on perfection and try something different.

I tried several various sampler packs and then bought a whole lot more different types, giving a lot a way, and ultimately just came back to Rapira Swedish Super Steel.  Feathers and Voshkods are a distant second that work well in a few razors, but nothing seems to beat the Rapira Swedish type for me.

The only way that I could see to make the modern blades better would be to make them a little thicker and more rigid.  The old Gillette Blue Blades seems to be more rigid and of a slightly heavier guage steel than modern versions, although who knows if the original sharpness was comparable.  I have found that a firmly held, more rigid blade greatly reduces the chance of irritation or cuts and weepers.

I, too, appreciate the Rapira Swedish Supersteel blades, ranking them third best among the blades that I have given a significant audition.  But these days I use only KAI and Feather blades, so the Rapira SSS just misses the cut.

The same result as you suggest would come from a thicker and stiffer blade can be obtained by clamping any blade closer to the edge both on the top cap side of the blade, and on the baseplate side.  The secret to the Feather AS-D2's success in “taming” Feather Hi-Stainless blades is in the manner that it clamps the blade down firmly, IMHO, especially its use of posts at the four corners of the top cap that mate with sockets in the baseplate below.

I use aggressive razors the Gillette Old Type Ball End where I use a shim (I also switch out the handle), the CG L3 DC and a PAA SS Ascension also with a shim (the shim adds more blade). The only blade I use (there are 2 versions of this blade) is the Polsilver Super Iridium (Russian) and Wizamet Iridium Supers (Polish). For me, these are the best in the razors I use.

Feather in my AS-D2 (of course) and GEM in my One Blade. That’s all I use.

I could use 7oclock Greens exclusively....a bit unglamorous but a solid blade...just the right amount of sharp, smooth and lasts me quite a bit.
