Ready for the freezer.  I've been tempted sometimes to eat them while shaving.  They're a great evening snack with a DVD movie.

I like Medjool dates.  The ones I get at a local Middle Eastern market are great.  I enjoy them after dinner with Port.

Stuff 'em with cabrales cheese, wrap in a single layer of bacon, bake for 10 minutes and drizzle with honey.  Now THAT will go good with a nice bottle of Port.

I like to snack on them, and also use them for making my milk substitute. But I learned to just keep them in the freezer. They never really freeze, but I've had them spoil after putting them in the refrig'.

Yes, I keep them in the freezer, where they get quite firm but not really frozen.  Then I move them, one bag at a time, to the lidded butter compartment in the refrigerator door.  There they don't have time to go bad.

Another variety I love, and they only grow in arabia, are called Ajwah dates.

They are much smaller and have an intense nutty creamy taste.
I dont consume sugar any more but when I did these were a staple.
Pricey as well.
