It's been an every day shave for me since I started working real jobs where grooming is rather important. Now that I've been retired for a few years and still shaving every day, I recently asked myself "why every day?". Of course, I enjoy the time and the simple relaxing routine. But lately I've been slowing down a bit. I'm considering (at least for a little while) going to shaving every other day. What are your thoughts and experiences?

That's the way I started after retirement. After several years of every other day, it went to two or three times a week. And, for the past year it was shave on Sunday. For the past month it has just been trim the edges once a week as I am in the process of growing a full beard.
So Gary, that's why they call it retirement. Do what you want to do, when you want to do it.

Shave, shower, and coffee are part of my "feel good about myself" morning routine.
A working person shaves everyday because they want to look good even if stretched for time in the morning.
A retired person shaves everyday because they want to look good and plenty of time in the morning.

I, personally, like going extreme BBS with an aggressive razor and then getting an extra day out of the shave so that I'm only shaving every other day. I get better results like that. However, I'm not some corporate officer that needs daily suit and tie. If I get that extreme, UBER BBS, than it's not showing regrowth until the middle of the 2nd day. It's all good and still highly presentable, especially as a secondary junior high teacher.

Nice. I respect that.

My work demands daily shaves. That's how it has been for last many years now.
However, during the weekend off days I try to skip a day or two, just allowing my skin to recuperate from the trauma of daily shaving.
I agree with all those who say shaving every other day is more fun...but got 2 long decades before I retire and have this luxury.

Agreed.
Work necessitates daily shaving for me, however I find that my shave results are much 'cleaner' and more 'smooth' when done every 2 days.
I agree (but I still shave every day!)
First step to recovery is admitting there's a problem!
