AdP has a new line (again), and the word is they brought back the Colonia scent for it. And has yellow branding.
I am looking forward to trying this out.
Anyone bite the bullet yet?
(I bought the synthetic brush and stand set, using Amex rewards points through Nordstrom.)

Nice! I'll be getting a jar when my Neiman Marcus gift card comes in (again, used Amex points).

I posted my impressions in another thread on here. I'll quote it below:

Quote:Today, I visited downtown Vancouver to check out some niche colognes and while at the AdP display at a high end department store, I noticed they had almost the full new shaving line. The AdP associate I talked to told me they arrived literally two days ago. They had almost everything minus the hardware.

The cream's consistency is very similar to the Collezione Barbiere formulation and yes, the scent to me, is a lighter and slightly less nuanced version of the original Colonia. Now, while the aftershave in the Collezione Barbiere was a very light balm, this new one is labeled as an emulsion and as you would expect has the consistency of a thin gel-like liquid and absorbs very easily, sort of like GFT's skin food.

They also have balms for the original Colonia as well as Colonia Intensa, Pura, Essenza, and Club.

Personally, even though I like Colonia, I already have a few Colonia-inspired shaving soaps, so I'll likely pass on the current formulation. I actually have come to appreciate the previous formulation Collezione Barbiere's light almond/wheatgerm scent for those days I want a lighter scented shave, so I am contemplating a backup tub.

I just picked up a sample packet of the new cream in a tub at Bloomingdales. From the tub it smells exactly like colonia. I’ll be giving it a go soon-ish.

I still own the old Colonia shaving croap.

While it's good, I can't see myself repurchasing it - it's not THAT good compared to all the other great shaving soaps out there.

Claus, good to hear from you.
I believe v3 has the scent of v1 (Colonia) with the formula of v2.
I've been asking for this for a while and I don't think I was the only one dreaming.

I actually prefer the performance of the v1, as the v2 was more like a soft cream.

I’m not a fan of softer creams any longer.
Dislike the way soft creams behaves overall these days.

I didn't care for the performance of v1 at all so I'm really looking forward to this new one.

It’s too bad they didn’t use this opportunity to up their base. Sadly...many other creams and soaps have....so imo... AdP isn’t in the top tier anymore...Hard pass on this one..

That's your opinion... here's mine:
It's probably the best all-time scent put in a shaving product, the most copied scent ever (none of the copiers come close to the complexity of the real AdP, so let's not go there)… and those same copier soaps are overrated by miles.

Perhaps I just don't have a good discriminating ability, but for me the v.1 and v.2 soft soaps lathered pretty much equally well, while the v.1 definitely had a better fragrance.  So I would guess that for my tastes, the v.1 remains the best.

I'm not going to dispute that they lathered the same, nor that v1 smelled better.  I definitely agree with you on all points...

I just prefer the protection and post-shave feel of v2...
v3 has the scent of v1 and the formula of v2, which is why I am looking forward to this.

(of course, if it arrives and the performance is not what I'm expecting, then I'll say so, too)

Not sure the scent of the first and the latest version is 100% the same...

I think we can all live without trying a cream that costs 59 euros per 125ml.

If it were that amazing, there would be many reviews as we speak. Also, most users of the previous version (v2), including me, agree that it's not such a great cream. It's good, but not excellent. There are products with better performance. Scent is a matter of preference. Some will say it's the best scent, other will say it smells just ok.

I never tried version one so I can’t compare the two versions. I can say that my version two was not in the keeper list after a few scoops.

For me it goes like this:

Nuavia
.
.
.
.
.
.
MDC
.
.
AdP v2

They had a 20% off a few days ago, so I was ready to give this cream a try, but I now think I made the right choice. I didn't need this and I knew it wouldn't dethrone my top performing products. I've tried the v2 base. But the 20% off had me thinking.

Matt, it was certainly not in the keeper list in my honest opinion. I sold it after a handful of shaves to a close friend.

I think my top three in order at this very moment are: MDC, SMN, and Carthusia Uomo. Nuavia and Eufros might round out the top five...excellent soaps!
