The Klenzo B985 is a favorite shape.  I asked Bob to turn a brush based on the Klenzo B985.  The material is called Fire and Ice.

Here's a couple shots.  The knot is one of his Manchurians.  I set it myself so as to get the loft just where I thought it should be.

Thanks Bob.

Niche, awesome idea. What did the loft you chose come out to be?

Beautiful. Bob’s handles and knots are among the very best I’ve ever used.

Absolutely beautiful handle. I like that simple but nuanced design. The resin is gorgeous, and the knot looks terrific. I haven't tried one of Bob's Manchurian knots. How would you describe them as compared to, say, a Shavemac 2-band?

Great work, Bob, and well-chosen, Max.

I've got 5 of his brushes, they are equal or better than any maker I own, his Manchurian is BETTER than my Shavmac 2-band... Smile
You gotta try Bob's stone handle,,they are the bomb! Cool

Bob has been making brushes for a long time. He's a true artisan. He's generous with his knowledge. And he sources very good knots.

Here's a comparison shot of an original Klenzo B985 and the upsized, updated version that  Bob made for me.

Diameter:
  • Klenzo - 20
  • Quinn  - 28.2
Loft
  • Klenzo - 56.4
  • Quinn  - 49.9
Initially I had the loft of the Quinn temporarily set a couple mm higher, but I reset to where it is now.  I may leave it in the temporary adhesive or pull the knot and set it with epoxy.  Undecided.

As for comparison to a Shavemac 2 band silvertip...well, I'll use them back to back this week and gather some impressions.  At this point, I can say they're both great knots.
