Just received my latest Simpson "Grey Box" era brush. This one is a 59 in Best Badger. I am overwhelmed at the quality of the "best" badger hair that was used back then. Definitely on par with what manufacturers are calling "Super Badger" or "Silvertip" today. The size also surprised me. It's the largest of my Simpson brushes. Family photo on the bottom.

That 59 is a great acquisition Primo. Is it NOS? The 59 is one of my favorite Simpson handles, and it's an underrated brush. I don't recall seeing a 59 with such a nice, bulb shaped knot. The 59's I've seen usually have a hybrid knot leaning towards a fan. I'd like to see a new 59 release with Simpson Super Badger or Silvertip.

There is still a powdery frangrance about the shave soap...I am going to give it a whirl on Sunday!

Thanks Primo! I have been so pleased as of late with the rotation of Safari, Old Spice, Tabac, AOS Sandalwood (tallow), and Stirling...I haven’t used it yet! I am neglecting my other soaps as well! Perhaps I will give this Seaforth stuff a try Sunday evening!

Fantastic score Matt!
If you decide to wash the shaving mug, do not put it in the dishwasher. I've seen posts where guys used it as a coffee cup and ran it through the dishwasher, it comes out as white mug with all of the graphics washed away.
Shawn! Thanks for the tip!!! I think that after the soap is used up...years down the road...I will wash by hand! Plenty of ordinary mugs around here.

Thanks for sharing Patrick. That knot is quite a gem for a "Best." Primo and you are fortunate to have found two exceptional 59's.

Don't think it's NOS. Clearly it has seen limited use. The handle is awesome. I had no idea. Excellent ergonomics. MUCH better than the Chubby handle (IMO). The knot is a beast.

Thanks. I've sold all my duplicates, but I have 30 of the Finests, all different. I still have a few more gaps to fill in the collection.
