Does anyone else have a pen with a needlepoint nib?  This nib was ground by Mike Masuyama.

Yes. Somewhere stashed in a carton in my basement. My Mom was a needlepointer of some repute amongst those in the know in the 1950s through the mid ‘70s. I have all of her remaining supplies, and the single largest collection of her art, much of it needlepoint. Here’s a sampling.

Mom’s take on an old-time sampler

“Sunflower” ca., 1967

“Rose Garden” designed ca., ‘56 - last stitch completed, ‘71 (approximately 3.5’ x 5’)

“Persian Rug” was the last piece Mom designed and stitched. It was a gift for her sister who proudly displayed it for some 30 years. When she passed it came to me

Wow! That’s good stuff Charlie! Your mom had some serious talent, and all that stuff should be displayed!

Thanks for the kind words, gents.

My apologies for the hijack Matt. If you’re still in need of a nib, I will be able to sort through Mom’s supplies when I get around to cleaning the basement storage room this summer.

Charlie that is amazing work.

Matt, I don't have a needle point nib.  I do have an accountants nib ground by Richard Binder.  It is one of my favorite nibs for taking notes or long writing sessions.

Thanks for the kind words, Shawn. Posting the photos of my Mom’s work was cathartic for me. After 36 years it’s now easier to reflect on her impact on my life than it was initially.

That sounds sublime Shawn!  Can you post a writing sample using that nib?

Thanks!
