Hello.

My name is Sam. Started wet shaving with a straight razor in the past couple of months. It took me a while to get set up, but am finally up and running. For a while the RAD was bad, so ended up with 10 razors. Lightly restored some of them. I do not enjoy honing much, but hone my razors with lapping film and diamond paste. It works for me. Paying the blood tribute less and less with each shave. A comfortable shave is a hit and miss still. I recently purchased 10 soaps, and am still waiting for their arrival. Finally got my Silvertip brush yesterday and it is a treat to lather with it. I do however expected it to be a bit softer. Anyway, good to be here.

Welcome to TSN Sam.  We're glad you joined and look forward to having you as a member.  I've never used lapping film, but use diamond paste as a finisher and to maintain my edges.

Thank you guys. I was ready to give it up at some point, but every time I get a decent shave my enthusiasm renews.

I wasn’t sure what stones to get, so went the cheap route. I use the balsa strop with diamond paste to maintain the edges and finish them as well.

The only thing left is a decent strop. The one I have is made by a belt maker in Cork and it is down and dirty type, but for now it does the job. I am not even sure of the type of leather...

Welcome, it will get better and better with the straights, takes a lot more practice then a safety razor but the shaves are amazing once you master them.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! It is getting better and on handful of times I somehow managed to get a BBS shave.
