I have a Frank silver tip, a Kent BK2 pure badger, and an Omega 100050 boar hair. I have been rotating them just because they’re there. I but I have to say the Omega outperforms the others in term of quickly producing a thick lather. I face lather. The silver tip retains heat better, but other than that the Omega is the best. Price obviously doesn’t matter that much when it comes to the quality of the brush.

I appreciate a nice boar knot. Thanks for the reminder. I have been into my Superbadger a bit to much.

I'm fond of the old stuff.  The brush is a knot from an omega 10066 and the razor is an old Gillette New Long comb that had a split handle I needed to repair.  They make a great team.

I really do enjoy my omega boar. not sure of the number but it cost around 12 USD a few months ago. it is my first and only boar. I have two omega synths and an unbranded  silver tip in the rotation.

Omega is still the best boar brush I have ever owned. I've tried several boars but I keep coming back to my 83 Omega. Nothing beats it.

I have three Omega boars.  The Connaught Omega, 10066 and Pro 49.  I like them all.  But the Connaught is my favorite.  Super soft right out of the box.

I usually go with badger, but Omega boars are fantastic. I just wish they had nicer handles. Perhaps a custom brush is in order.  Smile

The Connaught has a beautiful and quality faux jade handle.  Solid.  Polished.  Heavy.  Very sweet.

I have read that the Premium Jade has a floppy knot. Not sure if it's lofted too high or not as dense. I love the shorter lofted Proraso Pro brush.

My Connaught boar has the shortest loft of any of my brushes.  It's not floppy at all.  It's short loft makes it nice and taught and it is also quite dense.  In fact, my 10066 has a taller loft than the Connaught. Either there are other versions of the brush with higher lofts or someone is sorely mistaken.  Judging by my own version of the brush I find it insane that anyone could possibly say the brush is floppy.  Just goes to show you can't believe everything you read.  I guess you got your hands on some fake news.

They might vary a little, between batches? I had one of those Connaught jade Omega's and the knot was disappointingly sparse so despite being a low loft it was still floppy... I would estimate knot density was around half that of your average Zenith.

It was a real flop with me  Tongue

Interesting.  And unfortunate.  Maybe there is some variation.

The Proraso Boar and Omega Baby Pro both have more backbone than the Connaught Special for me but the Connaught Special is beautifully plush in feel and the unbleached knot at a low loft is a superb performer albeit without the backbone of the Proraso or Baby Pro. All three BOAR Omegas are great in my book.

I used mine yesterday and will agree that maybe it doesn't have as much backbone as the other brushes but it is luxuriously soft and plush as you state.  I absolutely love the feel of this brush.  I get too much scritch from the 10066 and the Pro 49.  If I could only have one boar, it would be the Connaught Omega.

Agreed...great brush and it is a steal...
