I saw Dr. John in NYC at a small club - consummate performer. During college I wore out his vinyl album "Right Place"

Yes, I saw him perform too. It was outdoors. However I don’t remember if it was in Central Park or later, at the Pier.

I was able to see Dr. John twice.  Once at the Village Gate before it closed and once at BB King's, again before that one closed.  Great loose funky N'Orlens tunes.  RIP.

He also wrote a very entertaining memoir. One of the things I remember him talking about was lost New Orleans recipes.
