I got this razor thanks to a good friend recommendation. However , for him this razor shaves like a LASSC BBS1 (Wolfman) and that razor is not even on my top 10 of favorite razors.Well , I'm glad I got this one since , and this is funny , for me , shaves like a Barbaros TR1 , a razor I truly regret I did sold back in 2016.

As you guys already know , Sean and his wife are behind this company , located on Minneapolis and this razor is 100 per cent hand made with 316 L stainless steel.

The razor itself is very elegant and after several weeks of use the handle have grown on me.Well , today it does but tomorrow might change my opinion (again) regarding it's looks.

This razor is extremely well balance , more than others that I have tried like ATT Atlas , Timeless , Blackland etc. And what do I called "balanced" ? Well , for me is the kind of razor that not all the weight is located on the head while shaving.I don't know if I'm expressing myself right but I dislike razors where all the weight basically rest on the head , making it a little bit strange for me to hold it while shaving.
Is not the case with it and has more of a balance weight throughout the razor.(Hope this makes sense).

And going back to the handle : yes , it has a unique design , something I appreciate , since not every single razor out there has to look the same or more "traditional" and its polished finish is excellent , making it shiny not overly shiny.

Holding the razor could be tricky at the begining and I found my fingers more on the smooth side on the handle that on the pattern one.If your hands are wet , like mine are when shaving , go figure , that smooth area is very slippery, so no good.

But I have "learned" how to adjust to this handle and now I hold it on a way that I can feel "safe" , even with my wet hands.

But where this razor excels for me , is on the shaving/removing of hair department.I have tried this razor with several blades : Gillette Platinum and Silver , Astra Blue and Green and Iridium Super , which are basically my to go blades and gosh , outstanding shaves with it each time.

Yes , there is a blade feel but I like it.As I said , this razor shaves for me like the Barbaros TR1 model , which I enjoyed back at the time (took me some time to warm up to it and like it but I really enjoyed it).

Am I happy with this razor ? Yes , I am.I have been spoiled with great razors lately and this is one of them.

Would I like to see this razor with a new handle design ? Yes to that question too.

Is this razor worth the 250 bucks ? It is for me but I understand there are a great competition out there and some of those razors has lower prices.

Very glad this razor joined my den and looking forward to see what the future holds for this company.

I was an "opening day" buyer of the razor.  Happy with purchase.  The Carbon Shave razor is spot on for my ideal weight, length and balance.  Efficient and really nice WTG pass including my neck (normal problem area).  Size and weight make the razor maneuverable.  Handle grip areas match the Wolfman WRH7.  While the handle may not win beauty contests, seems functional and ergonomic.

This is an exceptional review with crystal clear photos. I'm not a fan of the handle but the head looks efficient and clean.

I recently got a chance to try one of these razors and I loved it so much I bought my own.  Very comfortable shaves with a nice amount of blade feel.

I recently found out about this razor. The design is similar to the British Flat head and Prewar Tech. I find those Techs too mild for my tastes.

Is the efficiency of this razor similar to the referenced Techs?

I also agree about the handle design. A more classic handle would compliment the classic head design.

I have 5 shaves in with the CX and I would say for me the Pre War Tech is a 3/10 in efficiency and the Ikon Tech is a 10/10. Using Polsilver and Feather blades I put this at a 7/10. I have used it daily with no irritation and I am getting a 12-14 hr BBS shave with 2 passes plus touchup on my jawline. I know a lot of people don’t like the look of the handle but the 2 grip points work well for me WTG and ATG I hold my razors right where those grips are.

As stated above, the functionality and ergonomics of the handle are excellent.  Also as stated above, not everyone likes the aesthetics of the handle.

Had my first shave with my Carbon CX this morning. It is a bit more aggressive than I thought it would be at first (8/10).  I shaved with a Feather like I do in pretty much every razor.  For me it is more aggressive than my Tatara Masamune with the open comb (6/10).  Then again it was just day one.  I really enjoy the handle.  There are times when I really choke up and times I tend to hold close to the bottom of the razor.  The handle fits me quite nicely.

Thanks for a great review OP.  Pictures are wonderful.

This is a great razor, I used mine for a solid two weeks before sending it off to a few friends to try, and I am eagerly awaiting it's return to me. Yes, there is blade feel, but at no point does it feel rough or aggressive it is an efficient razor, plain and simple. The head design is fantastic, in my opinion. The handle I do not mind, it is unique and I do not find it awkward to hold. I am glad I had the opportunity to own my own, I see it being my primary razor once it comes back to me.

After deciding to browse the forums after having put my RAD in check after going nuts.

I made the mistake of opening this thread and I saw a gorgeous site. I knew nothing about Carbon Shave co. Just that that handle was speaking to me and I had to have it.

I placed my order and was amazed that they offered free shipping to Canada as I know it can be pretty expensive especially factoring in insurance.

When I went to check out there was no free shipping so I paid up.

I emailed Sean to let him know I wasn’t complaining. But that he should perhaps remove the free shipping to Canada remark and that I was eager to receive this gorgeous shave tool.

He apparently tried to email me back but my
Email wasn’t working.

While I missed his call. He actually called and left a voicemail letting me know he refunded my shipping and thanking em for the purchase and pointing out the error.

With customer service like that. I have no regrets buying this razor and while I haven’t gotten it yet. I will post pictures when I do.

Just wanted you all to know he’s one stand up fellow and IMHO you can trust him implicitly

I have been shaving with the Carbon and Steel razor this week and my initial impressions are positive. The handle is a bit of an odd duck but, it actually works quite well. The razor is efficient but does not have a lot of blade feel.

Not to take anything away from the guy or his company but how is this classified as great customer service if he is only doing what he "should" do? Has absolutely nothing to do with customer service!! Good customer service would've been refunding you the shipping costs and an additional 10-25% for the hassle of having to pay the costs in the beginning!! If he hadn't done it and the word got around it would've been viewed as a negative so he was only doing what he should have done is all...

Frankly that's absurd. Refunding shipping is plenty, emailing AND calling the customer to appologize is fantastic, expecting to also take a chunk off the cost of the product is ridiculous.

I agree tough freaking crowd. I figured the free shipping to Canada had to be a mistake.

For a small business that a hell of a lot of overhead to absorb. I’ve bought plenty of high end razors before. Paid to have them all shipped.

He’s a stand up gentleman. And went above and beyond to make things right.

I am beyond impressed. He and James from Wolfman are the only two that have ever given me
that level of customer service.

Nice to see another quality USA made razor. The proprietor may have made a mistake w/r/t Canada shipping, but he conducted himself quite well during the recovery.

Simply put, fixing a mistake he made is not even good customer service in my book!! Its not even customer service at all!! Its what he had to do because if he hadn't done it, it would've reflected very badly on him and he's been through quite a bit with this razor so far. As to emailing and calling, just like fixing his mistake its what he should've done and has nothing to do with "great" customer service!!

Agree to disagree, but that's just greedy in my opinion.
