I just acquired a 1930s Gillette open comb with a ball end handle. The most aggressive razor in my small collection used to be the Red Tip. I got a fairly close shave with one carefully executed pass. This was my first shave with an open comb. I have a Gillette single ring old type coming. It will be interesting to compare the two.

Yes sir that open comb would be more aggressive than the red tip, which I find a nice shaver and use  as part of my travel kit.

Love to see  pic of your new razor.

I am waiting for a NOS old type head. I am not sure about the NOS part @$35. the head is coming with a handle reconstructed from carbon fiber. not sure about that either.
it will be my first open comb (not trying to steal the OP) so I am a bit excited. Is a new deluxe in my future?

Sorry to be a techno peasant, but how do we upload pictures?

To me it's an anomaly, but although I generally have not done well with open comb razors - and really poorly with aggressive razors - I get easy, smooth shaves with my NEW LC.  Very strange.

The NEW may be more efficient than a US Red Tip....but definitely not a UK made Red Tip (which has a higher blade gap)
