Nuavia Verde.

Soaked the jar of soap for 3-4 minutes as I always do.
Loaded my badger brush for 2-3 minutes until brush was fully coated as I always do.

Got a thin bubbly lather that reminded me of my disaster soap MWF

The shave was mediocre too.

Never had anything but good results so far with my 4 Nuavia soaps.

But this was awful.

Will retry it next week loading the brush for 10 minutes.

Sometimes it clicks...sometimes it doesn’t! I guess that’s part of the fun!

Please let us know how the next attempt is Claus! I will be curious to hear!

Have a great weekend!

Matt,

I’m at a point where I only want soaps in my den that performs constantly great.
If Nuavia Verde let’s me down next time again, I’m retiring it to use for my head shaves and will reuse the wonderful container for other better soaps.

Nuavia used to be my numero uno.
But if it disappoints me two times in a row it’s going out of my collection immediately.

Perhaps Verde performs like this while the others are still great ?!?

Verde is the only one that I have not smelled/used. So I have no clue! Yeah...twice in a row is not a coincidence...time to move on at that point!

Hmmn... interesting. I have only used Verde and it is quite easy for me to lather. Akin to SV easy. I’ll give it a go tomorrow just to ensure I’m not losing my mind.

Claus, since the soap performed well for you in the past, I'm wondering what changed.  Is your water quality different?  I'm trying to account for the sudden change in the soap.

Ten minutes to lather a brush?! Wow. I dont time my lathering  but I doubt  I've ever done much more than a minute.

I was thinking the same thing myself.  Shok  I load for about a minute, maybe a little longer if it's a really hard soap.  Never longer than 2 minutes.
But, considering the hoard that Claus has, he'll never run out of soap even loading the brush like a mad-man. Biggrin
Nuavia green was my favorite scent of all the Nuavia soaps, and #2 vegan soap behind Grooming Dept.
Maybe the brush needs cleaning?  Try a different brush and see if it happens again.

I shaved with Nuavia Verde this morning, and as always - easy to lather. Bloomed the puck before loading for 90 seconds. Had enough for a 4-pass shave + leftover. Lather was dense & stable, hasn’t changed over time even though it’s been months since I used this particular soap.

To see if my badger brush needed to be cleaned I used the same brush for 3 consecutive shaves using Saponificio Varesino (one of their first hard shaving soap releases), Martin De Candre Original (old glass jar version) and Haslinger Coconut (old version with Tallow).

All 3 shaving soaps performed perfectly creating abundances of thick creamy moist lather with zero visible air bubbles. So the brush definitely is not part of the problem. I rotate quite frequently between 16-18 shaving brushes, but will now stay with the same brush to see why I got such poor lather from Nuavia Verde.

I will use Nuavia Verde for the second time in a week for Fridays shave to see what’s going on.

Sheesh, although I've never timed myself, I bet I load for 20 to 30 seconds.  Maybe 45 in some rare cases.

With a soft cream like X Pec, Santa Maria Novella, or Antica Barbieria Colla, it's probably only 20 seconds.

I own Blu, Rossa, Nera, and Verde and they all perform great for me, if not identical. Are you sure your Verde didn’t dry out and you aren’t compensating for that? They don’t really seal so it is definitely possible to happen. Many of my soaps have dried out over time, and require longer loading than ever before, which I don’t mind as I enjoy that part.

It probably has dried out somewhat, but this has also happened to some of my many shaving creams, and I just treat them like harder soaps and I get wonderful lathers from them.

Will give my Nuavia Verde a new chance today.

Will not load it for 10 minutes.

10 minutes was just a way of saying, that I will load the living daylights out of my Verde for this Fridays shave, to give it a chance.

I just shaved and I timed myself loading the brush. 36 seconds.  I think that's probably my normal time with a soap.  A bit longer than I thought.

It all depends on:

1. Water chemistry
2. Humidity level where you are
3. Brush type
4. Soaking time of the soap
5. Hydration level of the brush
6. Hydration level of the soap before soaking it
7. Skin type
8. All of the above mixed with some mojo

Many of my creams have dried out as well, so I also treat them as a hard soap. In fact, I’ve left the lid off creams before purposely because I much prefer a harder soap over a cream haha!

Lathered my verde today. I had an over abundance of thick lather after 30-45 seconds of loading; no issues whatsoever.

I think something has happened to mine.
It still is far from easy to get lather building up and it’s a low quality lather.
3 tries with it now.
I’m trying my other Nuavias to see what’s going on.

Nuavia used to be my overall favourite shaving soap. Far from it now. Far far from it.....

oh the horrors of batch variation! sounds like something was left out or too much of one ingredient was added to the batch.
