Gents,

I was finally able to use the RAW prototype this morning, and it is an extremely neat razor! The shavesmith, Morgan, is the proprietor of Silverloaf razors, and he left the scale on the spine and just below. Then he honed it without tape, which put a little bit of smooth honewear cutting through the shale.

It’s a pretty neat look, and the edge geometry appears to be excellent...sharp and smooth!

The scales are rosewood, and have a bone spacer.

The shave this morning was excellent...while it is an 8/8 “chopper” it somehow does not feel that way in the hand or on the face. It is lighter, and more nimble.

I enjoyed the shave immensely, and will look to buy another one of these sometime in the future!

I will take and post some pictures later today.

Good point. Didn't think of that.

Matt, does the raw finish affect the draw significantly?

Gents,

The scale left on the spine in no way marks up or touches the strop, and it glides as smoothly as any of my other razors.

The chap at Silverloaf did not put tape on the razor spine when he honed it, and you can see that wear shooting through the scale in the pics above. That is the part that touches the leather when stropping.

I think it is clever, and aesthetically pleasing to my eye.
