My old Sheffield returned form it's short trip to the Doc. Alfredo did a great job modifying the original horn scales. The scales extended too far into the tang when opened. He also replaced the brass rivets with small silver domed rivets. The wedge was black, maybe plastic? It needed some contrast and Alfredo recommended white bone. It came out stunning. In person you can see the subtle grain of the natural bone. Needless to say I couldn't be happier with the results.

Alfredo did a great job for you Gabe.  Did you have him hone the blade?

It had a really nice edge when it came to me. He said he might freshen up the edge if he had time. Not sure if he did.

It is tough to beat. The weight, size and grind make it an incredible shaver. Then add horn scales, that's a great combination.

Man...these Wacker razors are just tops in my book!

I Killed the edge on my Old Sheffield today, and honed it through a purple welsh, followed by seven light laps on a crox treated woolen strop...the resulting shave with Martin De Candre Fougere soap was FANTSTIC!

They are definitely first class. I know you have a few Wackers in your collection. Which is your favorite?

Gabe,

That is easy...the Wacker Old Sheffield is my favorite of the Wackers that I have been fortunate enough to acquire.

I think the overall it is my favorite straight razor to shave with of all my straights!  It has perfect balance, sharpness, grind, face feel, etc for my tastes!

Here are my Wackers in order of how much I like them.

Gents,

I am very excited!  I was just able to purchase another Old Sheffield!  This will be my first gentleman’s set, and I am fairly excited since the Old Sheffield is my favorite shaver!

Here is the sellers photo:

Thanks Gabe! It will be a Gentleman’s set, but alas...I true set of twins will elude me.

Look at the barbers notch on the one I have now and the one I just purchased...very different! That just goes to show that there are different razor smiths working by hand for Wacker!

I am still very grateful for the wonderful deal, and can’t wait to hone and use it!

Thanks Gabe! Yes...too different to call them identical twins...I have to settle again for fraternal!

Still though...very pleased and lucky to have both!
