What's going on TSN? That's cheaper than a new one in size 12.

Those are beautiful brushes, Lee. I used to have one exactly like that, and it was truly a luxurious pleasure to use. The only reason I ended up selling it was because I decided just to focus on vintage Simpsons.

I had it on my watch list...but didn't move on it. I just don't know much about Plissons...so wasn't sure exactly how it would feel on the face or...if I would be able to sell it very easily in the event I didn't like it.

Congratz! Glad I didn't drive the price up by bidding against you.

Very nice brush, at a great price. Hopefully the European White hair in it does not make it a scritch monster. If it is old enough the EW hair should feel like HMW hair.

It was described as "White Mountain" so I'm making an assumption, but it only makes sense that it would be HMW. The tips are so white and all.

I may be mistaken, but I think I was told once that the white collar signifies European White hair. Vintage EW hair also was very white at the tips.

Now that you've mentioned it, I have read that too.

Well, we'll see what I got in a week or two.

Whatever hair it is, it's beautiful. Those vintage Plissons are marvelous.

HMW had a black collar and EW a white one.

The only difference appears to be the whiteness of the tips. But the right one seems to have just as white tips as the left one.

This is keeping with Plisson's definition of EW as being very similar to HMW but "not as white, not as luminous". I haven't had the pleasure of trying a vintage HMW brush, but from what I've read, the difference is basically just visual (and even that is a subtle distinction).

So, I know you all have been waiting in suspense to find out exactly how large the brush really is.

Well, today I got it in the mail. After a detour in Utah due to an ebay mixup.

Knot size: 29mm/30mm
Loft: 78mm
Handle: 62 W x 46 L x 70.5mm H
Total height: 148.5mm
Hair: European White as it is not as luminous as HMW. Has a blonde look to it when viewed from the top.

The hair is amazingly soft. I do not think there is a modern day equivalent.

The handle is extremely enormous. It fills my entire hand. Actually, I cannot even wrap my fingers around it.

The knot is huge. It would lather my entire cheek in one wipe.

So, it must be a size 22 or 24. I say 24 because based off the chart a 22 would have a 70 or 72mm loft.

Honestly I don't know if I'll use it. It's so large and NOS. I'd rather retain the value if I am going to pass it on.

It sounds almost absurd, but also very awesome. While I would love to see that behemoth lathered up, I can understand wanting to retain the value. Can you at least post some more pics of this brush?
