What is everyone’s opinion on this soap? How does is compare to the usual top soaps like A&E, PAA, B&M etc?

I think I'm in the minority, but Mitchell's doesn't work for me.  Thin airy lather, not much cushion.  It's very slick and I enjoy the scent.

I find it to be an excellent soap with very good post-shave. Unfortunately, I don't like the synthetic scent I get from it.

I haven’t bought a refill in a number of years. My wife didn’t like the scent which was a bit surprising as it is a powdery kind of scent. I thought for sure she’d like it, but no.

I like it.  But I love it when it's grated down and combined 50/50 with Haslinger Schafmilch.  The combination is probably my best soap among the 50+ creams and soaps I have.  And it's called The Fat 'As.

Last time I used this soap was many years ago. I don't miss it. I am of the ones that don't like it that much. I recall a Claus' thread about it.

The only thing I loved about this soap was the scent. Very enjoyable.

I bought some years ago, and hated it. It was very finicky and couldn’t get consistent lathers with it. Fast forward to maybe a few months ago, I revisited it. Since gaining more patience and experience, I get MUCH better and more consistent lathers, and really like it. It’s VERY slick, and has a great post shave face feel. I’ve also grown to really enjoy the subtle scent it has, and would kind of like if they made a post shave product too.

MWF is a classic soap. I just used it for 40+ straight shaves. It works best when used often. I never got a bad lather from it. Are there better soaps out there? Yes, but MWF has been around for over a 100 years and if I was forced to use just one soap for the rest of my life, I could do a LOT worse than MWF. I like it a lot and it will always be in my shave den.

I use it very often recently. It is very slick and lathers great in my water here in Michigan. The scent is not overpowering, just simple, and gives a solid post shave feel. Tabac actually lathers a little better in my water, but is not as slick. So, I use MWF quite often, with a few artisan soaps mixed in.

Well, given its reputation, I have tried MWF many times.  I've tried boar brushes, blooming, & every tip on how to make it work I''ve found on the various forums.  It still doesn't work for me, just tried again first of the month ..

It is a classic soap IMO.
Mild, clean scent, and a great performer with lovely post-shave.
It can be a little more challenging to lather than other soaps.

There are better soaps out there for sure, but I never have a bad shave because of it. It is the only one that never leaves my countertop. All others are rotated. Maybe I have perfect water for it, because I get stellar foam from it no matter the brush type. Post shave feel is what draws me towards it. Being really cheap per shave is a bonus of course.

MWF is a excellent staple to have and I like Tabac also which is truly a more stronger scented soap that provides a slick shave as well.

I even like Col. Conk bayrum which is super cheap soaps. Maybe I have great water for it.

I like Proraso in the white tub. You have to like menthol though.

Other than those I don't have many others except for the rest of the stock of Stone Fox I bought a few years ago when the owner closed shop. I have the scents of Beau Brummell, Black Tie and Spicy Citrus which are wonderful soaps.

What's telling about MWF, is the diversity of opinions, but also that one member here reports that he gets great results using Michigan water .. the poster next has the opposite reaction, using Michigan water.  If anyone is reading this & wants me to cut a sample chunk PM me your address, I've had this puck since 2009 ..

Love it! My very first shave soap and will always have a place in my den. Currently on sail at Italian Barber for those looking for a deal! Both shave and bath soap.

The scent has me buying the bath soap, especially in winter. The shave soap is to me, meh, so so, but if I had it I would use it. It took some work to get the lather to build with it and had to soak it for up to 15: to get it to work. But, the bath soap has a fresh scent we love in the house. Also, Italian Barber just took my money I gladly say.
