I note that a bowl of this very rare, very well thought-of soap is presently for sale.Cool

I would sure 'nuff pay rent to get to try it out just once, but the cost of acquiring the whole thing is going to be just a tad bit outside my budget! Eyepop

There is no way I can justify this price. Yes, there are expensive soaps. Yes, supply and demand. But come on! I have paid $30 for 2 pucks of vintage Williams. What's in that soap?

For me its performance is no better than that of vintage Yardley shaving soap, so I think what you're paying for is the exquisite scent and the cachet/brand reputation/prestige. Similar to Plisson brushes, in the opinion of some but not all....

What is that scent? Are there other soaps on the market today with the same scent?

Does it has a better scent than the Creed , C&S or Penhaligons soaps?

It is a fern scent. According to what I have read, the closest scent to it has been the Roger & Gallet shaving soap, which is why I listed a WTB ad for that. Some of the modern fern scented soaps, such as Penhaligon's, are similar, but in my experience none are quite the same.

Yes, to my nose it is better, more complex and subtle - but not twice or three times as good.

Oh boy...and 135 bucks you said?...If that soap has a better scent than the Creed ones , then we have the soap of the shaving soaps...

Yes, it is my "desert island" soap, with which to be marooned. However, $135 would buy a lot of canned peaches....

OK, group by is in order. If we can get 30 people to chip in 5 bucks, we can have one shave each! But the memories will last forever Biggrin

Value is relative but for me I think it is worth every penny. I wish I new about the listing. Rats!
