Hi.

Planing on getting a MerKUR Progress. Whats the differences between a Merkur Progress 500 and Merkur Progress 570?

Update:

I have read that the 570 comes in a plastic case, and the 500 doesn't. If thats the only differences, then a 500 will be my choice.

Hello Striky,

Yes, that is the only difference. The 570 has a plastic case, the 500 does not and the 510 is the same as a 500 but with a longer handle.

From what I understand the plastic case is next to useless. Very brittle and few survive shipping without cracks. Save the money and go for just razor. I just tried a Progress (vintage gold tone with short handle) and I think this is the razor to end RAD. It is absolutely beautiful and the shave matches the looks. Absolutely wonderful shaver and unlike any of the other DE razors I've tried, which is Vintage Gillettes (including open comb aggressive ones), EJ DE89 type, Merkur 34C and even the 37C slant, which I thought would be difficult to beat, but Progress has done it, I think. Enjoy your purchase and post your experiences.
