Gents,

How is the new siero base from WK, and the fragrance of Fougere Mania. It sounds nice but figured I would ask.

Thanks!

I have read that the base is fantastic. Scents have been more miss than hit for me over the years.

The base and the performance of this soap are excellent. The scent is fairly typical of other WK scents, somewhat similar to La Fougere Parfaite.

Wholly Kaw have been on a roll with bases lately: donkey milk, Buffalo milk, and now siero. Looks like he already stocks the new base in “bare” (scentless) which is a good option.

I like the scent (I don't have a sophisticated sense of smell, I just know I like it).  As to performance, it blows everything else out of the water.  I think it's the slickest soap I have purchased all year.

This is all good feedback...I think Inwill buy it soon. I have three other WK soaps, and I have liked them.

Why not...throw this one into the mix!

Thanks!

Just ordered!

I also ordered Zingari Sego base in the Nomad scent.

It will be fun to use these next week!

I have both the Siero and the Sego soap base. I haven't used them a lot so far, as I have received quite a few different soaps for Christmas (received them two weeks ago as I went to the postal office before my girlfriend so I picked up the package I wasn't suppose to know about).

Of course I can post an update later on after having tried them a bit more, but so far I think that both base are AWESOME but the Sego one has a bit better post shave feel for me. You also need to know that I have VERY hard water here, so I dunno if hard water can impact the performance of one or both of these base. I recently moved where I am and water is so hard that I think I'm gonna start using a sprayer with distilled water to make my lathers.

As far as the scent of Fougère Mania, I like it but it isn't a wow for me. My girlfriend like it A LOT tough, making it still a good go to choice for me!

For the Sego one, I got the Wanderer and it is a fantastic scent. So much that I will order the balm even if I am not a balm guy!

As for the Siero one, you should watch the Michael Freedberg review on it. He liked it a lot, it was obvious in his face how much he liked the slickness of that base.

The Sego base is off the charts good

Sego and Siero are both on the way.

We have hard water as well...I just use distilled. I feel like it helps to improve the lathers.

Great to have these great options...and I also like Eufros, MDC, Sebum, and Stirling!

Stirling is great! I have several scent from them and I enjoyed them quite a lot, but Sego is trully on another level by a big margin! YMMV, of course!

Gents,

I used the Wholly Kaw Fougere Mania in the Siero Base a little bit earlier, and it is a fantastic soap that’s definitely worth a look!

The fragrance has great strength, and it smells similar, though slightly less natural and refined, to the Eufros Dama De Noche shave soap.  I really enjoyed it!

I loaded the damp brush on the soap for 20 seconds, and whipped up the lather in my large singing bowl.  It took 5.5 tsp of water, and the lather was superb in appearance, scent, and performance.

Equipment:

Razor:  “The Celebrated” 16/15 Wade and Butcher circa 1850...this was a Max Sprecher restoration, and he did the blue paua shell scales.

Brush: 28mm Paladin Phantasia

Soap:  Wholly Kaw Fourge Mania - Siero Base

Post-Shave Balm:  Eufros Dama De Noche

Overall I think this is a top tier shave soap, and a slight improvement over the other Wholly Kaw soaps that I have in the mix.

BTW, if I had to pick between the two...Zingari Nomad in the Sego Base or the Wholly Kaw Fougere Mania in the Siero Base...the Zingari would be my choice based off initial impressions.

That being said, I don’t think one would be disappointed owning either or both!
