After the Simpson Classic 1 super badger two band and the Simpson Classic 1 best badger shaving brush , comes the Classic 1 in Manchurian badger , the soap mass murderer shaving brush.

Well , maybe not that ferious , but quiet a serious brush to use with triple milled shaving soaps , if you want to run out of soap in less than 3 months...

What is about the Classic 1 handle that I like it so much?... In fact , with the Rooney 1/1 handle and the Duke 3 and Vulfix Grosvenor , my favorite classic handle of all , above the Plisson ones for sure. These English people know how truly make timeless classic handles and the Classic 1 and 2 and some of the finest examples of that.

I haven't shave with the brush yet , but I have been testing it this evening with triple milled soaps , since this brush was born to create panic among the UK triple milled soaps , and let me tell you , this brush created amounts of lather from the Geo F Trumper , Truefitt and Hill and D.R. Harris soaps with no effort at all.Yes , almost no effort.I even tested it with a Culmak shaving soap and the same , mounts of lather in no time almost.

This brush is denser than the super badger 2 band Classic 1 and quiet like the best badger one :

And its measures are almost the same too than the best and super badger two band brushes :

So , we basically have a brush with a :
  • 22 mm knot
  • 46 mm loft
  • 87 mm total height

I have to be honest : this brush reminds me of the shavemac 2 band 18 mm that now is in the hands of Dipesh : extra backbone with kind of soft tips , but this one has a much better flow and blooms a little bit more.

Tomorrow Ill be using it for my shave and report back , but I already have a good feeling about it...Biggrin

It looks very similar to the 2 band, but with "dirtier" tips and a more fan shape.

*looks*

Look forward to your review Mi Amigo.

I purchased one of these beauties a few months ago (previously reviewed here on the nook) and has been my faithful travel companion ever since I received it. It is a great brush that does exceptionally well with any soaps you throw it's way and can handle creams too with ease. For me it has great backbone with nice soft tips which produce a great lather and feel on the face.

The Classic series are a great all around brush IMO...I'm a proud owner of both the 1 & 2 in BEST in addition to the Manchurian and have a SUPER BADGER 3 Band custom ordered Classic 2 on the way from the Isle Of Man in the next few weeks Biggrin

These "Mini Chubbies" are giving my 5 Chubbies a run for their money.

Will most certainly do Teiste...Mark indicated that I should receive the brush in about 14-21 days. Really looking forward to the customized version of this incredible brush...Love the Simpson Super Badger grade.

Another interesting brush from Simpsons.
Think we should have a Classic 1 vs Classic 2 review thread too. Smile

Tried today and yes , I knew I was gonna like it since behaves like the Simpson Classic 1 best badger :

-Good amount of badger hair. Also I like its fan shaped , since its perfect to facelathering with circular strokes.

-Tips feels a tiny little bit more scritchier than best when dry and wet , but nothing unpleasant at all.Actually if you like a good skin massage while facelathering , you would enjoy this brush. Is less scritchier than the Tulip 3 Manchurian badger.

-Perfect amount of backbone and flow , even when the loft is set so short and the hair density is very high.I truly like that.

-Lather machine and literally is : "destroys" triple milled shaving soaps.

-Holds lather for more than 4 razor passes (the kind of thick lather many shavers like). If you like thinner lather , then it would hold more than 6 or 7 razor passes.

-Yes , this is a die hard face latherer brush dream for sure.Better than the best badger? No , but Manchurian badger have their followers and Im sure they would be more than happy with a brush like this.

Hi Teiste

Beautiful photos (as always) and nice review of an extremely handsome looking shaving brush Thumbsup

Classic 1 - Best Badger has now moved up to 2nd position in my Simpsons Wish List (contains 5 brushes), fingers-crossed I will have a Duke 3 and Classic 1 (both in Best Badger) in my possession before the year is out...

Take care, Mike

So Teiste actually prefer the Best Simson hair over the expensive rare Manchurain Simpsons hair - very interesting Lightbulb

Only problem is that Simpsons best hair can vary quite a bit from batch to batch.
Some will get Best hair that resembles the Super 3-band hair very much, others will get a much stiffer and darker Best hair, that has scritch and scrub Confused

My Nordic friend , that happens with any kind of badger hair , not only this one. However , the most expensive silvertips have more properties/quality consistency than lesser grades of badger hair.

I'm buying a Chubby 2 Best and Classic 2 Best based on your test alone, Teiste Tongue

Great review and photos, Teiste. I am quite surprised that you find the Tulip 3 to be a scritchier brush. I'd have thought the short lofted, dense little Classic would have torn your face to pieces. It sure is a handsome little guy!
