Gents,

I have used this soap five times now, and I wanted to create a new thread so my current opinion isn’t muddled with my previous opinions.  I used my new lathering technique today on it, and for me this soap is SUPERB!

This soap is absolutely elite, and certainly has a place in my all time top five list of shave soaps.  It hits on all cylinders!!!  During the lathering process it took 3 tsp of distilled water.

The fragrance is of cherry pipe tobacco with a hint of leather, and it is wonderful.

The performance, in my experience, is top notch with wonderful initial/residual slickness, and this is one of the creamiest soaps I have ever used.

At $15 shipped to your door for three ounces it is pretty tough to beat!

Here is the ingredient list:  water, locally-sourced organic tallow, coconut oil, potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, aloe vera, unrefined shea butter, fragrance, and babassu oil.

The post-shave feel is also quite nice!

Equipment:

Soap:  Long Rifle Soap Co Shave Soap - Brown Bess

Bowl:  Huge Singing Bowl

Brush:  RazoRock Big Bruce Synthetic

Razor:  OneBlade BlackBlade

Blade:  Feather FHS-10 (First Use)

Aftershave:  Captains Choice Bay Rum

Post-shave Serum:  Sebum Lime

All in all one of my best shaves ever, and the post-shave feel was second to none!

Please let us know how you like the soaps!

I need to revisit Long Rifle.  I do wish they had the 4" tubs.

This really really smells outstanding!  If it performs as well as Brown Bess these soaps are going in the top three!

I will report back!

Just tried Long Rifle Voyageur: Oakmoss, Sandalwood and Patchouli.
I like this soap alot.
Long Rifle soap is able to hold a ton of water if you are so inclined.
Aroma great.
Lather is super.
Glide abundant.
Post shave protection ridiculously good.
I thank the OP for the heads up.

My pleasure Jack.

Did you by any chance assess the creaminess? The last few lathers I made with Brown Bess were extremely extremely creamy.

I was gonna use Bay Rhum, but I was inspired to try Haslinger with the tallow. It was superb as well!

Ha! Nope...no whipped cream! I was excited though because I wanted to use another puck of LR separated by date of purchase and fragrance before thinking it was the real deal!

I was exceptionally pleased with the results!

Nice enabling, Matt. I have so many soaps I can't justify anymore. I had two LR soaps in my cart and came to my senses.

Primo, does that mean that you put four soaps in your cart instead?

That’s just foolish Joe! Bahahahah! Your self restraint is commendable, but you’ll go back!

Side note: The Bay Rhum is pretty lime forward, and really really fantastic as far as Bay Rums go. Pairs up nicely with Captains Choice Bay Rum!

No doubt the soap is great. Simply put, I am out of shelf space for software.
