Just a few days ago I was at the barbershop for a haircut and then a manicure and Kosta, my barber who’s 78 and a grand master of haircuts and old school shaving mentioned Proraso Green to me. He asked me if I ever tried it and I told him that I was using it almost exclusively for several years but I had gotten absolutely gatvol of it because it was starting to dry my skin and irritate it. He told me it had been reformulated a couple of years ago and it was completely different but I told him I really wasn’t interested. Anyway, he gave me a brand new cream tube and soap bowl free of charge and said “Try them and if you’re not satisfied then throw them out.” When I got back home I test lathered them both and I must say I was very pleased. The scent is still the same, it still has the same great lather but it’s much more skin friendly than it used to be. I used the cream this morning for my shave and it was very enjoyable!

I know proraso takes a lot of slack but it really is a high quality product at a fair price. I also love the smell of the green, and I think the red is the best, most true sandalwood made.

I always enjoy reading about praise for the Proraso Green. The first aftershave I ever bought, about six years ago (at age 57) was Proraso Green, based on forum reviews. It reminded me of Vick's Va-Po-Rub, and I immediately PIF'd it. I then read about Tabac aftershave, and tried again. I then bought a spare bottle of Tabac, and my wife convinced me to buy a bottle of Tabac aftershave for each of our grown sons. It's funny how our noses are so different.

I fell out of love with Proraso cream for quite a while. I've since found that it's my go to cream for perfect uber lathers and use it most days as a result.

Classic soap that only got better IMHO. Love it or hate it, it will be around forever.

For me proraso is as good as any to shave with.  The post shave hype is really to blame for swaying folks away from practicality in my opinion.

I think I’ll use it again tomorrow - this time the soap!
