Maybe it's because they're a hard soap, but not sure why these don't get more fanfare.

They have a really good variety of scents... copies of well-loved, time-tested colognes:
Acqua di Parma
Creed Aventus
Hermes Eau d'Orange Verte
AoS Sandalwood
YSL Rive Gauche
Czech & Speake's Oxford & Cambridge
Guerlain Vetiver
Tom Ford Grey Vetiver

That's a pretty all-star lineup, I'd say.

They lather like crazy, and give great shaves.

Anyone try these out?

I have American Blend and Lavender. I agree 100%. They are great soaps. I like them because they ARE triple milled. Hate the containers.

A few months ago I picked up a bottle of the American blend aftershave at my local independent pharmacy. It smells pretty good when I dilute it with witch hazel. I should probably try the matching soap.

Haha, yeah the containers :/

I agree, I always have loved hard soaps. And these are excellent!

I love this brand.

Used it last night, by coincidence. Green vetiver.

Love the lather! Slick and elastic. Holds water like a champ. Great in hard water too.

I bought the ceramic bowls they had and love them.

Good to know, I'll check them out.

Their new shave cream is seriously fantastic too. Maybe as good as their soaps, I can't decide.

Top ten in my rotation. Love their pucks-and scents. AFSs are super as well. Reminds me of TABAC pucks. I actually bought backups for my six [TdH, rive, vetivers [2], and Aventus]

Great sheen on this stuff!

I actually think Fine's lather is better than Tabac, and without the controversial scent.

Charlie,
Green Vetiver is based upon Vetiver de Guerlain.
Fresh Vetiver is based upon Tom Ford Grey Vetiver.

I saw someone post it was based on Gendarme.  I've never smelled Gendarme so I can't give my opinion.  I'm thinking I might get a bottle just to find out.

I’ve not tried the soaps, but have gone through many bottles of fine a/s - and the scents are on point.

LOL. I guess my answer wasn't too helpful. I do have both of the original scents, and if I had to describe them---keeping in mind that I am a totally helpless in that regard, I would say that the "Green Vetiver" (Vetiver de Guerlain) will be much brighter, with perhaps citrusy top notes, while the Tom Ford is darker, earthier. Ugh. That was a pitiful attempt.

Couldn't resist.  Wink

Biggrin

No worries, Joseph. I grew accustomed to that phrase at an early age.
