Hi Nookers.

I am looking to add a new soap to my small stable.  i am looking for a menthol soap, possibly in the orange cream variety but open to suggestions.  I am looking for an artisan soap of high quality.  I am NOT looking for Stirling soaps (not a knock against Stirling, it is just no longer for me.)

Just looking for suggestions on what you all like, and what is available.

Problem with mentholated soaps is that they lather like garbage. Go with a splash if you want the mentholated kick.

How much menthol? Proraso Green is a classic, is mentholated, and can be bought on Amazon or locally at "Bath & Body Works" as C.O. Bigelow.

I second Gig103 - Green Proraso don't have a huge menthol kick, but it's a nice shaving soap Smile

Really?? I know the OP isn't interested in Stirling and that's fine, but Stirling Glacial Wintergreen lathers amazingly.

Both Stirling and PAA offer DIY menthol.  Stirling offers Frost drops and PAA has the Chill Mill where you grind your own.  Any soap can become a mentholated soap from mild to wild.

It costs more, but Santa Maria Novella gives you a nice chill.

Noble Otter Orbit is really fantastic and it's one of the soaps using the synthetic menthol so you get the cooling but not watery eyes.

Valobra Menthol soap

If you care to consider a cream, alone or in a "superlather", Palmolive mentholated and LEA creams are very nice.

I’m going to say use cremo menthol cream and rub it on your face and then use any unscented soap you want.

I'll have to defend menthol soaps (and Stirling) too. I used Gin and Tonic on the Rocks this morning and it lathered beautifully. Since the OP isn't interested in Stirling, I will second Mike. Limenthol is the ticket.

I only can agree with that statement.

Sirling and paa are selling their DIY additive like mentioned earlier but there is also the Barrister  and Mann alternative called "Terrorade" made with synthetic cooling agent with the freeze of menthol without the scent of it and the watery  eyes.

In addition to the above (Green Proraso is my go-to for menthol) I believe that LEA Classic Shaving Cream (actually a soap) also contains menthol. Never tried it, so i can't vouch for either quality or how much menthol it is, but it appears to have a good reputation.

We've got a couple.  Woodland Frost - Woodsy (as you might guess), and Aussie Ice - Eucalyptus, spearmint, with just a touch of menthol.

We sell samples of most of our shaving soaps, so you can try them for a reasonable price.
