I’m not a signature fragrance kind of guy. I rarely wear the same fragrance more than say 10 times a year.

But I have one fragrance, that I miss so much and to this day still think is the best fragrance of all time.

I wore it a lot back in 1987-1989, when I was a teenager.

It’s bold, it’s strong, it’s a beast lasting 12+ hours, it’s fresh from the lime, bold from the leather, spicy from the tobacco and has a unique Chypre note in it.
It also has a striking metal note, which you also get in Chanel Platinum Egoiste.

It’s fresh, it’s thick, it’s loud and yet well balanced.

It’s not for little girls, that want a boy to smell like a fruity candy bar.

It’s not for insecure young lemming boys, that only want to wear perfunctory lackadaisical clone like fresh, aquatic and fruity bubblegum fragrances.

It’s discontinued and yet it’s the best fragrance ever made. To this day I have yet to smell anything quite like it.
This leaves 99% of all niche fragrances in the dust.

A true 10/10 rated fragrance.

I think my tastes run much more low brow than yours Claus but my favorite all-time frag is Jovan Grass Oil.  Sadly out of production since the very early 80s.  Super green top drying down to some good wood. About a half ounce left in my stash and I save it for very special occasions.

I’d have to say Gray Flannel.  I wish there was a soap flavored like GF!

My faves are 2 modern scents Lalique: Encre Noir Sport, and John Varvatos: Varvatos
their performance is a bit weak but the scent divine YMMV

All time? That's difficult for my aging memory.

However, the frag that comes to mind is Chanel Sycomore. The vetiver note resonates with my nose.
