What would be your essential shaving soaps to have or to try? I think that we have so many options out there , but these would be mine.

Shaving soaps

-Martin de Candre

-Mitchell's Wool Fat

-Art of Shaving (any)

-D.R. Harris (any)

-La Toja shaving stick

Shaving creams

-Geo F Trumper Coconut

-Taylor of Old Bond Street Jermyn Street

-Truefitt and Hill 1805 , Trafalgar or Grafton (but Lavender is my fav).

-RazoRock XXX or any of the RazoRock , to check what is all about the Italian "croaps".

-Musgo Real.

Those are the ones , in current production , I would consider "essential" to have or to try.

What about yours?

Proraso, Tabac, Mike's Natural Soaps, L'Occitane Cade (soap), Cella, European Palmolive (stick and menthol cream), Speick (cream).

I would also add a puck of Caswell-Massey, as it's essential to know what a truly bad soap really is... Sad

Soap: MdC and MWF

Creams: Speick, Palmolive Classic and Menthol, Proraso Green.

If I were forced to pick just two, it would be the MdC and MWF. I can live without the creams if I had to, but I will not be without my two all time favorite soaps.

Tabac (stick or puck) and Proraso Green in the tub. If every other soap/cream disappeared from the planet and only these two were left, I probably wouldn't care.

I just got a sample of Tabac from Garry's Sample Shop, I can't tell if I like the scent or not. It's weird. Huh

Yeah, Tabac has a very complex scent and you can get a half a dozen different notes at various conditions of the soap, it also depends on the person's schnoz. Some relate it to sticking your head in your smoking grandma's purse...I've heard some compare it to cat pee and flowers, I don't get any of that..I get a spicy, floral muskiness. If it's kept sealed it keeps it's potency and knocks some people for a loop...which is what I do and love it. But if left open or grated, like your samples, it can weaken and change the scent and you get much more subtle notes, which seems more pleasing to folks that hate the full power scent. Either way it produces some of uber easiest, richest and slickest lather on the planet and has good skin care as well, at least for me, leaves my skin hydrated and doesn't have that tight dried out feeling some other soaps leave.

Sir Irisch Moos is/was rebranded Tabac from the same company and apparently has a much more appealing scent for those that hate Tabac. I never got to use it and sadly it's discontinued now, hell you've been at this a while, I'm sure you know all this.

It's hard to say what creams / croaps / soaps that are essential, but everybody should try the Arko stick at least once in their life.

Gents, it is discontinued, but Myrurgia soap stick is essential. At least, for me.

Croap = "cream soap" = soft soap.
