Morning, It’s time for an upgrade. I’m currently working with a Merkur 34c which has been great but feeling it’s time to step up my wetshaving game. Been using Feather DE blades. After doing a ton of reading here I’m trying to decide between Blacklands Blackbird or their Vector. Totally different I know but I’m stuck. I m a daily shaver during the work week and have now become a daily headshaver as well. What are your thoughts guys ? Do I stick with a DE or diversify to a SE?

I’m sure you’re right. Which is why I’m kinda leaning towards the Vector. It is something totally different from what I’m used to. However I might be able to say the same about the Blackbird as I’m sure it’s a different performer than my Merkur, since that’s a razor made to a price point.

I think once you go SE you won't go back, especially with Artist Club Blades.  The Vector is a wonderfully mild, yet efficient razor that gives great shaves (probably my favorite razor).  Highly recommend you try the Schick Proline blades, everyone I've recommended them two has been very happy with them.  Enjoy the forum!

Welcome to TSN.

I suggest staying with DE blades for now, and getting to know the performance of a high end DE razor like the Blackbird or a Timeless.  Later on you can try SE razors.

Dissenting opinion: while both Blackbird and Vector are well established and regarded, by far the best Blackland used has been the Dart. Truly one of the world’s great razors at any price while being amongst the least expensive. Man, what a shave!

The Dart is my favorite DE by Blackland but the Vector is the only Blackland left in my stable. SCHICK Proline give a very smooth shave but if you want to step it up Feather super Pro blades take it to another level

Choose the vector, you won’t be sorry.

For daily shave the Vector is the option to go. Blackbird is also a fantastic razor but a bit too aggressive for every day shaves, even the relatively milder SB - in my opinion of course. On the other hand I haven't used the Vector for head shave so not sure how it performs there.

I think the BB would be too much for daily shaving. Out of your 2 choices I would go with the vector. However, I would take the Dart over the vector.

Easy. Buy both. You know you will sooner or later so just get it out of the way now.
