I was just browsing the Truefitt & Hill website and came across these special offerings. Maybe I haven't been paying enough attention to the forums lately and this has already been mentioned. But my eyes about popped out of my head when I saw these:

And the Super hair in those looks quite similar to the hair in my Gary Young LE M7.

Anyone have one of these?

I keep squinting at the writing on the handle - it doesn't look like it says "Super Badger" - too many letters for the word "Super." Or am I hallucinating? What's going on here?

I think so, too, Johnny. I emailed Mark about them.

It will be interesting to hear Mark's response. These brushes look stunning. Regarding the handle material, pattern, and color, are they the same as used in the two GYLE brushes? Presumably the hair is the same as used in the GYLE brushes, but perhaps not. It could also perhaps be the badger used in the Astor.

It appears that many positive changes are taking place at Simpson, except of course the soon to be official price increases.

They are nice. Very nice. A hint of Astor about them.

I agree, a hint of Astor for sure.

The tortoise handle looks quite similar to the darker of the GYLE handles. The horn option looks like the Astor handle material.

The Astor should come back as a regular production brush, but with silvertip hair and Ivory imitation handle...Biggrin

If these are filled with a special Silvertip, not the regular Super, I will be very tempted.

Looks like for some reason Simpsons is using the "Silvertip" label. Like on the jade brush here. That brush is a 2 band.

Simpson uses handles labeled Best or Silvertip when it comes to the 2 band Super.

Since when? Simpsons brushes have always been Super, Best, Pure. These are the only ones I've seen labeled Silvertip.

My mistake, I meant to say handles stamped with Best or Super I've seen with 2 band. I finally just put two and two together as to why those little SiLVERTiP lowercase "i's" were clanking something around in my brain.

I tried to find an statement/post from Simpson regarding the differences between the super badger 3 band and their silvertip badger and I couldnt find it.
So ,Mark ,what are the differences between those two badger hair grades , if you could please tell us?Thanks.

Quote:Different.
Again, from our usual hair supplier but graded even softer by them.
