If the upcoming Asylum 17-4 razor bears a strong resemblance to the Paradigm 17-4 razor, there is a reason for it. Back in November of 2018, I paid nearly $10,000 for a batch of Paradigm 17-4 razors that were supposed to be delivered by January of 2019. Now, nearly two years later, I am still out the money and, I have not received any razors. Over the course of this time, Paradigm has acted erratically. They promised the razors, they taunted and dared me to try suing, they tried extorting more money for the razors, they promised a batch of titanium razors instead and they promised to pay me back in an installment program. Rather than follow through with any of these promises, they instead used my funds to produce razors for a competitor.

In the normal course of events, I would have received the razors, they would have been sold and the profit from the sale would have been invested in another project. Rinse, wash and repeat.  You know -the old concept of compound interest that you learned about in junior high.

In order to recoup my losses, I have decided to produce a 17-4 razor myself. The picture is of a plastic prototype but the production model will be machined out of 17-4 stainless steel and polished to a high polish. We should have the 17-4 stainless steel prototypes next week and the production models should be here by the holidays.

Looking forward to the final version of this new Asylum being available, Phil.
That Paradigm asshat, Andrew, was given too many chances to make things right with you, and didn't; what a piece of ..

I expect this to be a great razor.

In my opinion, Paradigm stole $10,000 from Phil, and no member of the shaving community should ever buy another Paradigm razor.

In fact, both of those.

I totally get that Paradigm is so much in the wrong here, but this public kerfuffle seems very ungentlemanly. Very ungentlemanly indeed.

There is no kerfuffle here.  This is disclosure and response to the facts.
The Paradigm fellow is a rascal who failed to keep his obligations.

I understand tempers are probably rightfully flaring and there's some righteous indignation, but as a gentleman, I beseech you in editing your post calling the owner of Paradigm a thief. There is some potential legal liability in public accusations of criminal activity, sir.  If you're incorrect in your assertion, it is defamation per se. I'm telling you this as a brother. Please brother consider what I am saying.

People should know who they're dealing with. Stealing $10k is not a kerfuffle, and to minimize it and try to make Phil a bad guy with your ungentlemanly comment seems a little "ungentlemanly".  Wink

Guys, Phil has proof of this and I have urged him to post the documents. There is nothing untrue about the accusations.

NickFists may have a good legal point.
So, let's create a defense fund so Phil can fend off potential legal liability.

I had also encouraged Mohammad not to get involved with Andrew on their “collaboration”. I hate that he is in the middle of this!

Saying the words "thief" and "stole" are dangerous things to say legally when you're talking about a matter that's not criminal, but rather a business contract dispute.

Calling someone a criminal or accusing them of criminal activity where no crime took place ironically exposes YOU to legal liabilities potentially. I get people are upset, but don't get yourself in hot water over someone else's contract dispute.

This is why perhaps this OP is maybe ungentlemanly at best.

I don't see any ungentlemanly conduct in the thread so far.   What happened here is of interest to the shaving community, and a discussion of it is entirely appropriate.  The Moderators will deal with any posts which violate our standards.

Could you please ask people not to imply criminal activity in this thread? PLEASE. It would kill me to see my brothers in hot water in simply replying organically to an OP.
