To know this Rum is to know not to enjoy it before a good shave. And, with this 18/40 it'll be a very good shave.

Looking forward to some impressions of the XXXs. I didn't have much enthusiasm for them when Phil first suggested the idea, but something about the little Hoffritz seduced me. As these turned out, I find them surprisingly enjoyable to use. And I really like the way they look. I think the Hoffritz influence still show.

Have used the XXX several times now and really enjoy it. It’s a different hand feel but works great. I like the knot on the (battle of the) beehive more but perhaps this needs some break in.
Looks outstanding on the shelf!

The Barrel XXX is a superb brush and the knot really opens up nicely.

We didn't observe much different, on the whole, between the *E7s (Beehives) and *F7s (TSN LE Pirates and XXXs) in terms of characteristics of the hair. I think most of the *E7s were a bit less dense than most of the *F7s. The *E7s worked very efficiently and enjoyably for me, and we thought they balanced well with the Beehives. The Pirate design has more girth and height, which in combination, matches better (from our perspective) with a somewhat fuller knots. We didn't want to confuse the offering by specifying different knots for the Pirates than the XXXs, so we went with *E7s for all the TSN LE brushes. That all just FYI. And, as always, mileage is bound to vary.
