Many of you have well appointed shave dens, some of have gear with many years experience. If you had to remove just one product - what would it be? A specific type of soap or blade? A razor you bought during the initial hype, but rarely use? A cartridge razor strop that’s sat unopened?

What’s one item you’d vote off “shave island”?

Yesterday I eliminated 2 Rasozero soaps, I can't handle them anymore.

Despite extensive effort when my journey began I could never make GEM/ER razors work for my shaves. They’re Off my shave island!

My den is documented here: https://www.badgerandblade.com/forum/wik...:Wimbouman

And to answer the question, the item to leave this shave island would be the Oneblade Core razor.

This razor in theory sounds perfect for me, but sadly it did not work at all for me.

Dovo shavette. I’ve found real straights are more comfortable than this too-light scar machine.

All blades not made in Japan.  It is not a racist or nationalistic (I am not Japanese) fetish; the choice is based entirely on performance.

Retained:  KAI stainless DE blades; Feather Hi-Stainless DE blades; Feather MR3 neo cartridges; several "single-use" triple-blade one-piece KAI razors given to me as サービス in the public baths of Japanese hotels and ryokan.

My gear list is small.  Which makes for an easy choice.  It would be...
The Mystery Brush.  Shown below.  Unknown parentage.  Came as part of a package deal.  Haven't had it long enough to grow attached to it.

I would do the same! I have a couple of different blades brand in my den, but I use exclusively Kai and Feather 99.99% of the time. The .01% is when I want to give the other ones a try just to see if I would change my mind about them, but I always come back to Kai and Feather.

I havent tried the other Japanese one you mentionned though...

Call me surprised!
GEM are actually some of my favourite items in the den.

I hope to live on an island nearby when you ban them, I will gladly provide shelter :-)

I’m voting off all the preshave placebo’s that I was dumb enough to buy.

Hemmingway Accouterments shaving cream. The best smelling but worst performing item for me.

The Simpson Chubby brush. An iconic shaving brush, but impossible to hold comfortably for me (glove size 8 for surgical gloves, size 10 European glove size). Uncomfortable? Painful is a better word for it’s (lack of) ergonomics.
I wanted to like this brush. No way. Much too short a handle.
Sold it.

I agree with you that the Chubby 2 is not ergonomically comfortable. However the 3 is very comfortable for me and somewhat surprisingly the size 1 is more comfortable than the 2. Go figure..
