We walked in a nearby neighborhood today, and some of the houses had very enthusiastic Halloween decorations. But the best part of the walk was seeing a guy training his hawk in a park, turning around in a circle with a long rod and a line with a lure at end, which the hawk chased. A couple times the bird caught the lure, and then the guy picked the hawk up and talked to it before launching it off his hand again. I wasn't able to get any pictures of them.

We went for another 3-mile stroll around the neighborhood today and saw this Halloween house, which seems a bit over the top. Note all the huge spiders on the roof. And the witches are wearing Covid-protective masks. If I were a little kid, I think I'd be hesitant to trick or treat here...

Halloween is an old holiday, with roots stretching back some 2000 years to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain.
