I really wasn't positive where to put this. Shopping deals seemed wrong as this is not a sale or a deal, so I just picked Safety Razors as that is what this is. Mods, feel free to move if I posted in the wrong spot.

As most of you are probably aware, Merkur discontinued most of their Open Comb models, most notably the 11c (matches the 34c heavy duty and 37c slant) as well as the 12c (barberpole which matches the 38c closed bar and 39c sledgehammer slant). I did find one vendor who still has new ones of each in stock. While not the best shopping site in the world, the razors came to me in perfect condition and the prices are standard Merkur list prices.

This is not an endorsement of the sites or sellers, they are certainly no Phil or Joe, but if you are looking for one of the discontinued Merkur Open Combs, this is the only place I have found that still have them in stock.

One caveat with the min NY site. I never received any shipment notification from them at all. It just showed up. I was a bit nervous about the site as I have never heard of them and they are actually a retail store with a web presence.

Doug, i thought Jarrod was sold out of the 11C for a few months now. Did you get one of those from him? i have not seen anyone that still carries the 11C.

I wonder why Merkur discontinued the 11C .Odd decision , since its been a well regarded razor by wet shavers who wants a razor a little bit more aggressive than the 34C HD but not as much as the Slant , 37C HD.

I am really enjoying the 11c and 12c. Nice razors, standard Merkur designs, close shaving head. I too found it odd they were both discontinued, hence my journey through the intertubes to find one of each.

Since I had the 34c and 37c the 11c was a natural desire, the same for the 12c as I have the 38c and 39c barber poles. Figured I should round out both sets since the 11c/12c are discontinued.

I do enjoy my 11c very much and was lucky to get one on a BST board after I heard they were discontinued. Fits into my rotation nicely.

Is the 1904 head different or is it just the hard handle?

I'm not sure how the word hard got in there, just ignore it.

Yes it is, I have one of those - the Merkur 41C is a 3-piece razor

Windo,
I had a question for you...
Where you are the owner of a 11C 34C 37C

How would you compare the 11C VS the others?
How much more aggressive is the Slant 37C to the others?

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff, I responded to your PM with the same questions.

I love them all. I do not consider the slant to be aggressive from the stand point of how one normally defines aggressive. Yes, the hairs fall off the face fast and easy, but it never *feels* aggressive to the skin.

Just ordered an 11C from Gifts & Care. He is still stocking them. If I remember correctly they are a great shaver. Will soon find out.
