Every Sunday I shave with old formula AoS Sandalwood.
This morning I was thinking. "This is probably my GOAT soap."

It's slick.  Though not the slickest soap on the market.
It's cushiony.
It lathers easily.
And the scent is wonderful to my nose.

So, I ask others, "What is your GOAT soap?  And why?"

Like many of you, I've used many soaps over the years.  This is my choice.   What's yours?

Please post only one.  And share "why."  Don't just post "Whatshisname Cranberry" without explanation.  Please share your reasons.

And by my definition, there is only ONE, not a list.  A particular maker's lineup being the exception.

Happy Sunday.

That is a very challenging question to answer, Max, and I don't think I could honestly say that there is a GOAT soap, for me, as there are just so many great soaps, right now.
Nonetheless, if I were to choose, then it would have to be Mystic Water because of its variety of scents, great post shave, overall performance, inexpensive price, consistent availability, and great customer service. Smile

I 2nd mystic waters. Their soap is the most unique soap. The way it lathers.. lol its weird but great soap. Ive owned 3 which all have been through trades and im so glad i did. Scent strength lasts all day, i love that thick silky , slimy pre-lather i have to break through to get that fantastic lather. I dig it something fierce!

Fine Santal Absolute [AOS Sandalwood clone] - I think the scent is/was slighlty better, performance is slightly worse

All the AoS (Valobra) tallow soaps were superior, and the Sandalwood is my favorite scent.  I've got some pucks laid by, and if I don't use it every day there's a chance it will last me ..

It is slick, lathers easily in the water I'm provided, and has good cushion.   Like most hard triple milled soap it lasts a good long while. The only downside is that it is no longer being made

I have to agree with the OP.

Among the 40-50 different brands of shaving soap I’ve tried, the Valobra made hard shaving soaps are my GOAT.

They last for ages, if you decide to buy a backup stash of them.
They perform excellent in all areas.
They are easy to lather up.
The lather is stable and doesn’t break down fast.

Czech & Speak’s Valobra made soaps are excellent, but pricey.
AOS Sandalwood made by Valobra was fairly cheap and performs like the C&S soaps for me.

So my GOAT shaving soap is AOS Valobra made Sandalwood.

All points very important.
But normally out of focus.
Bravo!!!

On this line, for me it's Meissner Tremonia.
Because I point another detail: depth of the line.
I love to have all products, from face soap to aftershave, of the same fragrance.

As there can be only one...

For me, the choice is Tabac.  Consistent great performance.  Reliable and available with decades of history.  And finally, the scent, while not my favorite scent, instantly reminds me of the barbershop I used to get my hair cut at when I was a kid.  Bruce's barbershop.  Three old guys cutting hair all day and talking shit to each other.  Also found my first adult magazine in the bathroom when I was 13 or 14.  Ah, the memories.  Thumbup

You know what, I have to agree with you.
AOS Sandalwood made by Valobra is no longer available, Tabac is.

So my GOAT shaving soap, which still is available today, and at a pretty reasonable price, would also have to be Tabac.

As with AOS Sandalwood, Tabac is a hard soap, so it will last for decades, the scent reminds me of my father and old days, but I can definitely understand people, who dislike the scent, but I love it.
The performance is flawless.
The presentation in the white glass bowl is timeless.
You can get the entire Tabac line in deodorant, after shave, shaving cream (which is also a really good shaving cream) and Tabac also comes in a shaving stick, which is among the best shaving sticks on the planet too.

This thread made me realized that I bought a NOS puck of AoS Sandalwood 2 years ago and I still haven't unwrapped it.

Will have to use it in the short future!

Yes. I had the same idea - haven’t used my puck of AoS sandalwood in way too long. Maybe today Smile

It's clear that you've thought this over.  And...great reasons, esp the girlie magazine!  Shok
