That’s kinda the purpose of “corking” a blade, lots do it to remove any small imperfections from the blade and tame really keen blades, normally the process is to gently pull the blade thru the cork several times after opening it and it’s only done the one time.

Doesn’t work for me, never did. Just dulls the blade. Rather than having to do this, I found a blade that works for me straight off the wrapper

I to never noticed a difference when doing it but I seldom use a DE or SE razor as I use straights, all the vintage razors I have left I just change the blades once a year and that seems to be enough and the blades never give me trouble.

Yup, that should be good enough. Lucky you. I am still struggling with straights, been trying for some time now
