I have not used creams very much for a a number of years now. However, I’m not a dinosaur. I’ve shown I can rediscover products that previously became inconsequential to my shaves - such as boar brushes and shave creams. So, what are your thoughts of the relative strengths and weaknesses of TOBS and DRH creams? Is one vastly superior? I’m most interested in Eton College and Arlington. Also, talk to me about Antiga Barbearia de Bairro Principe Real Shaving Cream. I think I might enjoy that one based on the scent description.
Thanks very much.
Thanks very much.

Brit cremes are nice and really no preference amongst any of them. The high end Italians have performed better for me, especially ABC and Xpec.
BUT, the new Wholly Kaw creme, HOLY COW! It is as good as the Donkey Milk Sero soap base, seriously and inexpensive too. The Tobacco is a great scent but leave the jar open for a day to knock off the sweet top note dominance.
If you want, can try to have our H&S 316 P076 passaround guys send you a sample

I second Dan's opinion regarding the Italian vs. British creams.
Santa Maria Novella is amazing.
XPEC rocks.
But you should consider the AoS creams. The lavender is wonderful, as is the sandalwood.
Lastly, Baume.Be is probably the pinnacle of shave creams. (Ignore the hard soap)

Thanks, Dan. I appreciate your thoughts. Tbh, I’m not looking for a tobacco scent. Rather, I’m presently more interested in lighter, citrusy scents for this time of year.

Thanks, Joseph. I’m interested in your recommendation for something citrusy.

Floris No. 89 cream
Floris 89 .. can you describe the scent profile?
Main notes to me: neroli, bergamot/orange, nutmeg, oakmoss, vetiver
Very nicely done, particularly in the cream for some reason.
Never had a bad shave and been using it for years... I keep it in my dopp bag bc I need something reliably great when away... No messing around when on travel.
Leaves the skin as soft and comfortable as the best soaps. Promise.

Thanks, Matt. That’s the kind of solid info I was looking for. Much appreciated

Savonnerie du bon Berger
this "superlather" was superb
Maybe a super lather for you with a citrus soap and XPEC cream?
Jack, you must have posted this just seconds before the site went down.
Yes, maybe.. I still think I’m leaning toward Arlington or Eton College. There’s also the Asylum English Aloe cream. That scent description sounds like we might appreciate it.
But yes, maybe an unscented cream and a citrus soap.
Thanks

I’ve been a steadfast user of TOBS creams for the last 30 years. I do use other creams such as GFT, Harris and Fendrihan , but I always have a tub of TOBS on hand. My favourite TOBS are Rose, Lavender, Eton College and Avocado. Of the GFT creams I Ike their Lime. As for Harris, it’ll be Arlington, which is also my favourite aftershave splash. In the Fendrihan range I like Bergamot and European. In my 50 years of shaving I haven’t ventured much into European and other creams as I find the British creams are more than good enough for me.
